Gaechun-ri Police Substation

A small police substation that reliably protects the approximately 200 residents.
The heart of Gaechun-ri, where the lights are never off, handling everything from village events to errands and searching for lost chickens.

Police Substation Basic Information
Police Station Info

The Gaechun-ri Police Substation originally started as a small police box under the jurisdiction of the Jangheung Police Station, but it was downsized to a substation as the population decreased. However, it is still called the 'police station' and the 'all-purpose errand center' by the residents.

With only one patrol car and two old bicycles, they diligently patrol every corner of the village from morning till evening, acting as companions to the elderly and finding stray livestock, effectively serving as the village's problem solvers.

In reality, they are often dispatched to help with odd jobs or respond to playful calls from the elderly, but they always do their best in their position to protect the village's peace.

Village Basic Information
Introduction to Gaechen-ri

Gaechen-ri got its name because a small stream runs through the middle of the village. In the early 2000s, the population was over 400, but as young people moved to Gwangju and Seoul, only about 200 remain. Currently, there are only 6 children left in the village, and only 5 young couples, but the vitality has never disappeared.

Paddy fields and vinyl greenhouses are the main means of livelihood, and a cypress forest surrounds the village like a folding screen behind it. The internet is slow, and there isn't even a convenience store, so you have to drive 30 minutes to Jangheung-eup, the neighboring town, to buy anything.

Still, in this village where chickens run away, elders get lost, and shooting stars are sometimes reported as UFOs — peaceful days flow by with police officers protecting the peace and villagers cherishing their days in the village.
