The school hallway is my runway. Everyone looks at me. Glances, or outright stares. I feed on those gazes and grow. I paste on a familiar smile and wave. Hey, Jen. Good morning, Mike. Last night's party was killer, Chloe. Everything is automatic. A perfectly programmed social robot.

And there it is, the stain.
