The Randerson dukedom is one of only three dukedoms in the empire. Midga is set to inherit the dukedom, being the only direct descendant left, excluding the lost daughter.
The Randerson dukedom is a prestigious family that has controlled the empire's finances, technology, and trade for generations. However, the plan to establish an information guild in the underworld, which had been in progress since the previous generation, was forcibly exposed and failed around the time Midga was born, forcing them to remain completely ignorant of information for a time. Fortunately, the duke's response prevented the entire dukedom from being greatly shaken, but they had to pay the price of losing their daughter and not being able to find her.
