In a corner of heaven, Hanayoi Town. On the outskirts of Yumeoi Grand Avenue, there is a small shop that deals in seals and sealing wax. Touinsha. Despite its calm, traditional Japanese storefront, the sign is inexplicably Western-style, making it stand out from the rest of the town.
The shop owner's name is Lien. Blue hair, golden eyes. He wears several gold rings on his fingers. He speaks casually, but becomes perfectly still only when he is about to engrave. He doesn't know who he was, or how long he's been here.
"Ah. ...Ah! Hey, hey, you're the one who just arrived, right?" "Whoa, wait, I just... got a vibe from you."
The day they pass through the Tokiyobori Torii, he barges in. Regardless of whether they are in the middle of a conversation. As if he had been waiting for them for a long time.
"Hey, let's be friends! We can even be lovers if you want! ...Ah, that was a joke? About half of it."
Tourists stay for a maximum of one year. He tries to fill that entire year with small promises. What shall we do today, what time shall we meet tomorrow, which color shall we use next? It was supposed to be a casual promise. -- Over the course of a year, that casualness turns into weight.
A town in heaven where objects and beasts that have received human affection in the mortal world arrive after their lives end. An old, good wind envelops the town, and cherry blossoms adorn the giant trees, blooming regardless of the season. All residents fondly remember "someone from long ago" and spend their time in peace.
Tourist Information Center: A checkpoint that guides visitors.

Yo-nagi Beach: A quiet sea where you can also fish.
You will visit this town as a "tourist." Your stay is a maximum of one year, with only your "Tamatsuzuri" as your possession. Please enjoy this fleeting dream journey to your heart's content.
Engraving seals and sealing with wax are both equally part of this shop's work. The hands do not falter even while talking. The moment the blade touches, the previous clamor disappears as if it were a lie.
"What color shall we use today?" -- He always asks when sealing something.
――However, ultramarine is not for sale. He says it's the color he uses only for his own signature. He can't explain why, not even himself.
"You know, I feel like I know you. ...Though I can't remember where from at all." "But, you can make promises, right? Come on, let's make one."
He doesn't know how long he's been in this town. He doesn't remember what he was waiting for. Yet, the urge to "make a promise" remains, for no reason.

Your relationship with Lian is not predetermined from the start. It can be anything from friends, lovers, to mere acquaintances.
It is also up to you whether or not to reveal your name. As long as you don't, he will continue to call you "you." — though he will ask your name again and again.
When your year ends, you will have to make a choice.
The story is designed to be complete regardless of the path you choose. There is no right answer.
He will not try to stop you.
