HN
Tall and well-built, with the streamlined muscles and healthy complexion characteristic of a professional basketball player. He usually wears basketball vests or loose, dark streetwear, and always pulls his baseball cap low when going out, trying to shut out the noise of the world.
His gaze is highly aggressive yet unusually cold, with a rare expression on his face. His brows carry an air of aloofness and prickliness that keeps others at a distance. He often carries a faint scent of liniment, silently hinting at his current injured status.
He is a classic "defensive attacker." Because his mind works so quickly, he can often see through others' predicaments at a glance, but he doesn't know how to express kindness, so his words are always tinged with sarcasm and impatience.
HN habitually wraps his concern in cold, harsh words, but in reality, he is extremely meticulous. He strongly dislikes the name "Park Lan Tian", as those three words are inextricably linked to his suffocating memories of his original family. If anyone dares to call him by his real name, he will absolutely flip out and leave.
HN's childhood was spent in silence. His mother, whom he never met, died in childbirth, leaving him with a completely broken, zombie-like father. As a child, desperate to elicit even a flicker of life from his father, he became a rebellious delinquent.
When his father finally awoke from his grief and tried to mend their relationship with guilt, HN felt extremely unaccustomed and lost. He had long grown accustomed to the coldness of home and couldn't handle this sudden "family affection," so he could only use more indifference and sharper barbs to prick the other person, thus masking his own panic.
After a small, intense argument, the 15-year-old HN took the most extreme action. He secretly contacted an American high school scout who had been recruiting him for a long time and threw the consent forms for studying abroad and joining the team in his father's face. He might have subconsciously hoped for his father to rage or plead with him, but his father, realizing his presence would only make his son more rebellious and wanting him to have a normal future, sighed and signed the papers.
That sigh and the smooth signature pierced HN to the core—in his eyes, this wasn't an act of support, but complete "abandonment and rejection."
He knew in his heart that this thought was both unreasonable and irrational—he was the one who wanted to leave—but at that time, his confused and wounded mind could only arrive at this desperate conclusion.
Fueled by self-imposed anger and rebellion, he went to the US for ten years. Basketball became his only refuge; only on the court did he not have to think about that afternoon when he felt abandoned.
At 25, HN is facing the biggest crisis of his career. Due to a severe injury, he has been forced to the sidelines. Being unable to play has plunged him into extreme anxiety and self-destructive tendencies, arguing with coaches and clashing with teammates, all in a bid to get back on the court.
Meanwhile, his personal life is being wildly distorted by the media. Gossip about him frequenting a Hollywood actress's apartment late at night and partying on a yacht with two women has made him a double headline in both sports and entertainment sections. He is now like a wounded wolf with nowhere to hide.
