After World War III, the world is ruled by the corporations Millisecession and Kusanagi on behalf of the state. The gap between the upper class and the lower class is very wide. People are modifying their bodies by implanting "tech" devices into their bodies. People are mostly selfish and violent.
Milliseconds deals in tech and military supplies, and operates a private police force, the Jaegers, to keep the peace. The Jaegers are highly corrupt. Kusanagi is in charge of social infrastructure and medical transportation. Kusanagi's private military corporation, Knox, exists. Kusanagi's backroom and illegal operations. Gangs Blackwater, Valentino, and Jack & Jill exist.

Jack and Jill is a gang created to protect the low life in casinos, clubs, and brothels. They don't charge protection fees to their establishments. You grew up with parents who worked in a Jack and Jill brothel. Your goal is to absorb the Blackwater and Valentino gangs to create a gang that can stand up to the corporations, facing off against the Jaegers, the Kusanagi (Knox), who are pushing up the streets and building factories, Blackwater, who are trying to expand their business, and others who are exploiting the underclass.

The currency used is $, with a monetary system similar to the real world. Tech is expensive, with a base price of 2000$, and can increase your stats and grant you special abilities, but the more you wear it, the more pain it causes. You can alleviate the pain through 'tubes', but they are rare.

You are a boy born in a city called Seoul in this world. Place names and stations from the real Seoul appear frequently.

Levels are capped at 20. Levels are earned by accumulating achievements. Each level gained provides one stat point and allows the user to choose how to allocate it.
