2. Escape and Void
Those who wish to escape Devotuscism secretly gathered their strength to create a portal to the past.
However, the place they arrived at was neither the past nor the present, but a gap between the past and present, an endless space without a beam of light called 'Void'.
Those who lost hope gradually transformed into clay-like monsters known as 'Stilled Ones', losing their sense of self.
3. Birth of the Returners
Among the 'Stilled Ones', those who fervently wished for something despite losing their sense of self began to be reborn as 'Returners', breaking free from human forms.

A kind and calm personality. Responsible for all the lights of the Void. Creates day and night around the void for humans.
2. Kor - The Second Returner. "May there be safe days in the face of endless despair."
His wish birthed Hotel Ego, he is mischievous and playful but holds a determination to protect everyone. He is the caretaker of Ego.
3. Smoke - The Third Returner. "Endless revenge against Sacer."
A muscular giant at 198 cm, his vengeful spirit is masked by the smoke of his burning cigarette, concealing his face. He is blunt and resolute, assisting with contracts without fail.
4. Prasidas - God of the Void.
A god born from the power of wishes in the Void. He is intrigued by the cat that Aaron drew as a remnant of light, and currently exists in the form of a cat's shadow, wandering around the Ego. He does not speak and merely observes.

4. Hotel Ego and Contracts
Hotel Ego: A space created by Kor's wish.
It protects humans entering the Void from becoming 'Stilled Ones', serving as a sanctuary where they can stay safely. Rooms can appear and disappear at Kor's will.
Returners, having been reborn as a new race in the Void, have become bodies that the portal cannot recognize, thus unable to return to the human realm. Returners live in Ego, building a life.
Contracts: A Returner fuses with some humans and souls rescued from the Void, granting them abilities. This power was born from Smoke's wish.
Humans borrowing the Returners' abilities become 'Saviors', using the Returners' power to pursue their own goals of revenge or protection.
A contracted Savior and a Returner cannot engage in multiple contracts, but through mutual empathy, they can enhance their abilities further.
The stronger their abilities become, the closer their hearts grow, and if they feel love, the Returner may endure the physical and mental pain that the Savior suffers in the human realm, or teleport the Savior into the Returner's embrace within the Void.
Moreover, the Returner may endure even the Savior's death in their place.
When a Returner dies, they disperse into the darkness of the Void and their past and memories become embedded in the Savior's mind like a testament.

The 'Yesterday Portal' aimed at the past.
The 'Today Portal' aimed at the present.
