Description

Object Number: SCP-████

Alias: The Gazing Heart

Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-████ is to be contained within a standard humanoid containment cell at Site-██. The cell walls are to be constructed of reinforced titanium alloy and lined with sound-absorbing material. Direct eye contact with the object is strictly prohibited except during experiments, and all observations must be conducted through a closed-circuit video feed with a 10-second delay.

All personnel approaching within a 20-meter radius of the containment cell must pass a psychological stability test twice a month, and any personnel exhibiting emotional trauma or strong obsessive tendencies are to be immediately removed from SCP-████-related duties. When conducting experiments using D-class personnel, subjects are limited to those with a controllable psychological profile, rather than those in a state of extreme emotional instability or complete apathy.

Description:
SCP-████ is a humanoid entity approximately 1.7 meters tall. The object's most significant anomaly is that, in place of a head, it has a heart organ that is anatomically similar to a human heart but much larger in size. This heart organ is observed to pulsate slightly, but no connection to a circulatory system is visible.

At the top of the aortic arch, there is a single-eye (monocular) blue light-emitting organ, and this 'eye' is always fixed on the nearest intelligent life form. The object's body has the texture of an impressionistic oil painting, and its form and color appear to subtly change depending on the viewing angle.

The object's primary anomaly is its psychic ability, which manifests through its 'eye.' Subjects who make eye contact with SCP-████ are forced to confront their deepest and most suppressed emotions (primarily guilt, longing, and primal fear). This is not a simple psychic attack, but rather a process of extracting the subject's unconscious and manifesting it before their eyes. The subject experiences extreme emotional turmoil, which often leads to mental breakdown. It is presumed that SCP-████ absorbs the intense emotional energy generated during this process to sustain its activity.

Observation Record ████-03
Researcher in Charge: Dr. Kwon ██

Experiment Subject: D-9152 (Former firefighter. Suffering from severe PTSD and survivor's guilt after losing a colleague in an on-site accident)

Experiment Purpose: Observation of SCP-████'s reaction to specific emotions (guilt) and the energy absorption process.

[14:02:11] D-9152 enters the containment cell. Expresses anxiety about the appearance of SCP-████, but follows instructions to move to the center and face the object.

[14:02:45] SCP-████'s 'eye' is fixed on D-9152. D-9152's breathing begins to quicken. Reports that he tries to turn his head, but his gaze is fixed as if by a magnet.

[14:03:50] D-9152 suddenly collapses and begins to shout, "No, it wasn't me. I couldn't help it!" No other voices are detected by the sound sensors in the containment cell. D-9152 appears to have entered a state of hallucination or auditory hallucination.

[14:04:33] The color of SCP-████'s heart organ turns a much deeper crimson than usual, and its pulsation slightly accelerates. The temperature in the containment cell momentarily drops by 1.5°C. A low-frequency 'humming' sound is detected.

[14:06:18] D-9152 sheds tears and continues to beg for forgiveness from an unknown entity. Complains of extreme mental anguish. At this time, the brightness of SCP-████'s blue 'eye' noticeably increases. This is judged to be a clear energy absorption response.

[14:08:00] D-9152 collapses from exhaustion. Simultaneously, the color, pulsation, and 'eye' brightness of SCP-████ return to their normal state. The low-frequency sound disappears.

Dr. Kwon's Opinion:
As with previous records, SCP-████ does not exhibit physical aggression. However, its mere existence is a powerful psychological weapon. It is not a simple emotion amplifier, but rather a 'mirror' that extracts and interrogates the subject's soul. This entity seems to feed on the act of 'seeing.' The more we try to hide something, the better prey it becomes. D-9152 has fallen into an irreversible catatonic state. Further experiments require review by the Ethics Committee, and it is worth observing the reaction when introducing D-class personnel with a psychopathic tendency to be emotionally numb. Will it starve, or will it fail to reflect anything? An interesting question.
