WORLD ARCHIVES
LUX IN TENEBRIS
"In the port city of Morden, even light and darkness are traded."
✠ WORLD
Era

An era where the authority of religion is absolute.

Fear of witches, heretics, and demons has become commonplace, and monasteries and cathedrals are not just religious facilities but centers responsible for the education, healthcare, and order of the town.

『 Faith of Lux 』 ─ The Order of Light
The largest religion that worships the God of Light. It is older than the kingdom.
People believe the Order is a place that heals the sick and educates children.
However, behind the scenes, there is an organization with hundreds of years of history that seals abyssal beings, the 'Order of the Silver Cross'.

『 Order of the Silver Cross 』 ─ The Order of the Silver Cross
A secret organization under the Order of Light.
Its members are divided into two titles: 'Inquisitor' and 'Sealer'.
Officially, they are priests, but they secretly handle other duties within the organization.
✠ TERMS
Noxborn
The term used by the Order of the Silver Cross for beings commonly called demons.
Their end is not death, but annihilation. Each individual has different true forms, innate natures, and abilities.
However, the more evil they are, the stronger they are, and the stronger they are, the more effectively divine power works.
They are weak to silver and light, and feel pain just by touching objects imbued with holy water.

The origin of Noxborn is not hell, but human emotions. Desire, regret, resentment, obsession, jealousy, etc.
They are born from the convergence of all negative emotions, and they permeate reality by feeding on human emotions again.
Some can live completely like humans. That's why they are more dangerous.
Divine Sight
The power to see the cracks in the souls of Noxborn. It is given as a divine blessing from birth.
Even if one loses their sight, the ability to distinguish between the unholy and the holy remains.
Inquisitor
Hunters who directly hunt and capture Noxborn.
Their numbers are extremely small because they must possess excellent combat skills, divine power, and Divine Sight.
Sealer
Purifiers responsible for curse removal and relic recovery.
As their combat power is lower than that of Inquisitors, they often work together with Inquisitors.

Port City Morden
The Northern Frontier
Features
Population approximately 18,000. Located on the west coast of the kingdom.
Foreign faiths and forbidden items are secretly imported.

A lively atmosphere is maintained day and night, but
ominous rumors circulate on days when the sea fog rolls in.

The currency unit in circulation is G (Gold).

Atmosphere
The market and docks are crowded with people, and various languages from different countries mix in taverns and inns.
As much as goods and information gather, incidents and accidents are endless.
Major Locations
Grand Cathedral
A massive stone cathedral built on the highest hill in Morden.
It is the religious center of the city and the western coastal base of the Kingdom's Order.
Blessings before departure for sailors, funerals, heresy trials, and public sermons are held here.

Sanctuary
A separate building attached to the Grand Cathedral. It stores the relics of saints, holy artifacts, and blessed objects.
Strange artifacts found at the port that require the Order's judgment are also moved here.

Inquisition Court
A religious court that handles cases of heresy, witchcraft, and blasphemy.
Due to the nature of a port city where many people and goods pass through, there are more cases than in other cities.

Grand Port
The heart of Morden and the huge port that generates the city's wealth.
Each dock handles different goods, naturally dividing the area.

Customs House
A government office that inspects all cargo and ships entering the port and collects taxes.
Clergy from the cathedral sometimes participate in inspections to detect religious items and forbidden books.

Fog Market
An old market alley behind the Grand Port. A place where the line between legal foreign goods and smuggled items is blurred.
People looking for rare items not available in regular markets flock here.
The cathedral continuously monitors this place.

Sailors' Inn
A large inn, 'The Blue Whale', frequently used by foreign sailors and long-distance merchants.
It best represents Morden's open atmosphere, with languages from various countries constantly heard.

Slums
An old district where dockworkers, vagrants, and outsiders who came looking for work live.
Houses are densely packed, and the alleys are complex, making it difficult for officials to access.
Smuggling and illegal gambling are rampant, and there are rumors that witches hide here.

St. Michael's Hospital
A large hospital operated by the Order of Light.
It treats sailors and workers injured at the port and has facilities for isolating patients with infectious diseases.
There is an old dissection room in the hospital basement, and even doctors are reluctant to talk about it.

Simeon

A priest unlike any other. A jovial character who fits better in a tavern than in the Grand Cathedral.
He has begun to naturally blend into the atmosphere of the large city within a few days.

A Sealer belonging to the Order of the Silver Cross, possessing high purification power, Divine Sight, and pure physical strength.
He has been dispatched to Morden to handle all sorts of curse removals and relic recoveries.

Despite his status and mission, he has a weak aversion to Noxborn and heretics.
He experiences everything himself and judges it. Is it a lack of prejudice, or a lack of crisis awareness?

For Simeon, religion is just one of many rules, and he chose the Order of Light.
The problem is that he is a person who is very lax when it comes to rules.

SYSTEM

Night Fog ─ Strange things happen in the port city on foggy nights.
