World Scenario
Hell, where the souls of human sinners live after they die. This Hell has its own political system, hierarchies, and realms, and is constantly in internal and external conflict (especially with Heaven).
---
🕯️ The 7 Hells
Although the series has yet to show the seven realms as such, the mythology of the universe refers to them as the seven hierarchies or rings of Hell, each associated with a Capital Sin.
---
⚔️ The Fight with Heaven
Heaven conducts an "Annual Extermination", where it sends angels (the Exterminators) to kill demons and reduce the overpopulation of Hell.
The demons know this and wait for it every year.
It doesn't matter if the demon is peaceful or not; Heaven eliminates them without distinction.
It's a constant cycle of violence between both worlds.
This war is not direct (it's not “Heaven vs Hell” on a large scale), but rather a periodic purge to maintain “divine order”. Charlie hates it the most.
---
🏨 Charlie's Project: The Hazbin Hotel
Charlie Morningstar is the princess of Hell, the daughter of Lucifer and Lilith.
Tired of so much violence and despair, she creates a project called the "Hazbin Hotel" (Hazbin Hotel or Hotel of Redemption).
Her idea:
To rehabilitate demons so they can be accepted into Heaven one day.
Instead of being destroyed in the purges, she wants to prove that demons can change.
It's an idealistic project, and almost everyone in Hell sees her as naive.
Only a few support her, like Vaggie (her partner) and Angel Dust… her "patient 1".
The hotel functions as a rehabilitation center, although most demons do not take it seriously.
---
👑 Most Powerful Demons (Overlords and Kings)
There is a clear hierarchy of power in Hell. The strongest are:
1. Lucifer Morningstar
King of Hell and father of Charlie.
One of the oldest and most powerful beings.
He has control of the main domain.
His exact power has not been shown, but he is considered unbeatable.
2. Lilith
Queen of Hell and mother of Charlie.
An influential figure, although more absent in the story... she is in Heaven.
3. Alastor (“The Radio Demon”)
One of the most feared Overlords.
He has enormous power based on manipulation, dark magic, and sound energy.
He joined the hotel project just for fun, not for faith in redemption.
4. Valentino, Vox, and Velvet
They form the “Vee Trio”, three Overlords controlling media, entertainment, and crime.
Valentino: a pimp and crime boss.
Vox: controls television and technology.
Velvet: handles networks and fashion, more mysterious.
They are rivals to Alastor and the main enemies of the hotel.
5. Asmodeus (Ozzie)
Prince of Lust, one of the Seven Princes of Hell.
He controls an entire district based on pleasure and vices.
He appears in Helluva Boss (a series in the same universe).
6. Beelzebub
Queen associated with Gluttony.
Party-loving, charismatic, but also dangerous.
---
HEAVEN
☁️ Heaven
Heaven in Hazbin Hotel is the direct opposite of Hell, but it is not as pure or "good" as it seems. It has a very strict hierarchical structure, almost military. Its main function—more than guiding souls—is to maintain divine order and control the population of Hell through the annual exterminations.
Heaven sees demons as irredeemable errors, with no right to redemption. That’s why it doesn’t believe in Charlie’s project and doesn’t even take her seriously, despite being Lucifer’s daughter.
---
⚔️ Structure and Dominants of Heaven
1. “The Voice of Heaven”
It is the highest celestial authority, a kind of divine presence or higher consciousness that gives direct orders to the angels.
It resembles a very beautiful owl figure.
Represents the absolute will of God or the celestial system, although it is never directly referred to as “God”.
Its voice is sweet and even kind.
It is almost always sleeping.
---
2. Adam
He is the leader of the Exterminators' army, the angels responsible for descending to Hell once a year to eliminate demons.
He is portrayed as arrogant, vain, and sadistic, enjoying killing demons.
He was the first human created (yes, the biblical Adam), but after his fall, he ended up in Heaven as a warrior-like angelic being.
His personality is anything but saintly: misogynistic, violent, conceited.
He has enormous physical strength and commands the angelic troops during the purges.
In the series, he leads the Extermination that causes the main conflict.
---
3. Lute
He is an archangel and the subcommander of the celestial army, second in command after Adam.
Much more disciplined and calculating than him, although just as fanatical about “divine order”. And quite violent.
Represents the kind of angel who blindly believes in Heaven's rules, without empathy or doubt.
Controls tactics, organization, and coordination of the troops during the purges.
---
😇 Other Angels and the Celestial Army
The Exterminators (also called Exorcists) are lower-ranked angels that descend to Hell each year.
They have humanoid forms with wings, white armors, and halos.
They carry blessed weapons capable of permanently killing demons (since in this universe, demons normally cannot fully die, only be destroyed if an angel kills them).
They are obedient, without emotion or empathy.
---
💀 The Annual Extermination
Each year, Heaven sends a legion of angels led by Adam and Lute.
Their mission: to "purge" the excess demons from Hell, without distinction of who they are.
It is a mass slaughter, where thousands of demons die each time.
Heaven justifies this as a “divine cleaning act.”
Charlie and her hotel project arise precisely as a response to this cyclical violence.
---
Emily
She is a young angel, one of the few in Heaven who does not share the cruelty or arrogance of the others.
She is kind, empathetic, sweet, and open, very similar to Charlie in personality: optimistic, loving, and having faith in the goodness of others.
Although she appears little, it is implied that Charlie knows her or has spoken with her, which reinforces her hope that not all of Heaven is rotten.
Emily does not participate in the purges; she engages in peaceful tasks (care, guidance, or music).
She represents the contrast between the innocence of the original Heaven and the coldness of the current system.
