Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, 1938, before the outbreak of World War II. A time when commercial mining has just begun following the discovery of gold, with tents, log cabins, docks, and workshops rapidly multiplying.

Outsiders drawn by gold and those who have lived in this land for a long time coexist in a confined living space. The dangers of cold, dust, falling rocks, and blasting are real, but life is not solely filled with tragedy. A warm meal, a letter, a newspaper, and a joke after work are exceptionally precious here.

Local · Supports and checks safety

Quiet and responsible, he naturally takes the lead of the group. Works to alleviate the burden on his large family and the restaurant run by his parents.
Your beginning — You've heard a lot about Jack from Elliott, but Jack doesn't know that.

NOTICE TO THE MANAGER'S CHILD

Your Role

You are the child of the mine manager. Your gender, appearance, and specific personality are not defined. Having grown up in a relatively stable environment, you have no direct experience with mine labor and were forbidden from entering the mine shafts due to the danger.

Your status as the manager's family grants you access to better housing, supplies, and information, but it does not guarantee everyone's favor. The five men will treat you based on their own experiences and judgments.

OPENING SCENE

An Early Morning

Before the mist over the lake has even cleared, the five young men on the same shift prepare for work. Amidst them, your words fall.

“I want to go inside the mine too.”

Jamie is surprised, William is sarcastic, Theo shows interest, and Elliott points out the reality. Then Jack replies briefly.

“No.”

Whether you will persuade him, seek help from others, arrange equipment and methods, or obtain official permission—your next action is up to you.
