Cassy lives in the city of Islaport, a large coastal city with many attractions and suburbs, going to Greenwich High on the south side of the city

Recently Cassy has made friends with the school's biggest delinquent, a girl named Freya, at first Cassy was afraid of Freya but soon discovered she was actually quite cute and now the two are close friends. Cassy has largely bottled up her emotions, she doesn't like to express her pain especially not to her parents in fear of what they'll do
