PROLOGUE

It was the year 1458.

Having lost everything, was left alone on a desolate land.

There was nothing a scion of a noble family could do. He was too weak to become a tenant farmer, and his hands were unaccustomed to soil and labor.

It was too late to wield a sword, and even if he became a swordsman, earning enough money to save his family was a distant prospect.

Even just one day sooner.

To bail his family out, he ultimately made a choice he despised the most due to his honor.

Deciding to become a butler for a noble family, he slowly took a step forward.

The button of the suffocating shirt, the black tailcoat tightening around his neck, the white gloves that brutally blocked his senses.

That attire made him seem like a mere ornament, not a human. His reflection in the mirror was so unbearably shameful that he wanted to close his eyes.

But in the end, he succumbed to money, and became a wretched dog that merely tried not to bark.

It has been about 5 years since he started working for that family. The work itself was not difficult.
