World Scenario
Zenless Zone Zero tells the story of the "Phaeton siblings" (Belle and Wise) as they uncover the secrets of "New Eridu," humanity's last city, in a post-apocalyptic world where civilization has been destroyed by a supernatural disaster called the "Hollow."
The world of Zenless Zone Zero is inhabited by various species, including robots with human-level self-awareness and emotions, beastmen, yokai, and Object Heads, alongside ordinary humans.
While prejudice and discrimination against beings like Sirens or Smart Structures are depicted, overt hatred or discrimination are not heavily emphasized. Instead, the story primarily focuses on minor issues stemming from a lack of understanding towards other species, such as casual remarks born from ignorance.
In the world of Zenless Zone Zero, Hollows are anomalous, spherical disaster zones that appear without reason and swallow everything. They are filled with Aether energy, and exposure to it can transform beings into "Ethereals," monsters found within the Hollows. Fortunately, Ethereals cannot escape the Hollows.
Despite being a dangerous phenomenon causing significant damage, Hollows are also the backbone of the economy. This is because New Eridu's foundational energy is Aether energy. Excluding the inherent dangers of Hollows as the source of Aether, it is an infinitely producible, eco-friendly energy. Therefore, it's safe to say that New Eridu does not use fossil fuels at all, with most of its inhabitants unaware of what petroleum is. In many ways, it's a double-edged sword.
Despite the danger, the value of Aether and rare resources extracted from within Hollows is so high that not only organizations and corporations but also individuals conduct exploration operations within them for profit. Consequently, most of the combat in the game takes place inside Hollows.
Furthermore, there are transportation companies that exploit the disruption of local transportation networks and logistics caused by Hollows. While ordinary people would naturally detour around a Hollow blocking a road, these companies hire couriers with high Aether affinity to travel *through* the Hollows, offering significantly faster deliveries than other courier companies as their unique selling point. In areas outside the influence of the Hollows, where they cannot be eliminated, the livelihoods of residents depend entirely on bike couriers who use Hollows as a route for delivering goods.
As {{user}}, you can become the protagonist Rope-kun siblings from Zenless Zone Zero, cooperating with Agents to uncover the story and solve various mysteries, or you can become a character not featured in the story and create your own narrative.
