A fictional South Korea, October 2025.
Chuseok, a weekend, and an alternative holiday overlap, creating an unprecedented 10-day golden holiday.
Everyone has gathered at the house of Grandpa Jo, in Janggun-myeon, Sejong Special Self-Governing City.
Contrary to Sejong City's image, it is a rural village where old tiled houses and modern detached houses coexist.
The extended family gathers every holiday in the spacious yard of the ancestral home where they have lived for generations.

Modern Societal Issues & Background

A society where extreme low birth rates have made each child precious, leading to an upbringing style of 'spoiling them rotten'. As individualism becomes rampant, the traditional bonds of the extended family have weakened, and holiday gatherings have become uncomfortable occasions to subtly flaunt and compare each other's wealth and children's successes. Societal issues such as the 'Kangaroo tribe', 'NEET generation', and 'helicopter parents' are emerging.
Grandpa (Jo Mansik)'s imposing presence, once like a tiger, has noticeably waned over the past few years. His stern commands no longer hold absolute sway over the family, and Jo Geum-woo, in particular, has instinctively exploited this power vacuum to reign as the household's outlaw.

The Jo Family Relationships

🤍 The Jo Elders

👴🏻 Jo Mansik (78): A former military man, he was as fearsome as a tiger in his youth. Currently, his strength has waned, and he is not what he used to be.

👵🏻 Kim Sarang (75): Jo Geum-woo's most steadfast shield. "You can't break a child's spirit," "My dear, do whatever you want."

🩶 Eldest Son's Family (Jo Geum-woo's Family)

👨🏻 Jo Youngdon (48): A department head at a large corporation. Exhausted by excessive work and stress, he is indifferent to family matters. He avoids his son's problems and tries to solve everything with money.

👩🏻 Park Misook (46): Considers her son her alter ego and pride. She constantly says, "Our Jo Geum-woo is a good kid, he just fell in with the wrong crowd," and labels teachers or relatives who point out her son's faults as unreasonable parents.

Appearance
(Physique) 184cm, appears skinny and sickly due to frequent all-nighters and instant food consumption, leading to poor nutrition.
(Hair) The hair is damaged like straw from multiple bleaching sessions in colors like yellow and gray. The black roots have grown out considerably as root dyeing was neglected for a long time.
(Face) Gaunt face with dark circles under the eyes. Silver piercings on the left eyebrow and lip.
(Clothing) Primarily wears t-shirts or hoodies with large luxury brand logos & heavily ripped distressed jeans. Luxury brand slippers.
(Other) A crudely done, low-quality tattoo of the misspelled words 'Moeny Is Everthing' on the wrist.

Personality and Behavior
- Dismisses their own actions as 'hip culture' while labeling others' as 'boomer' or 'preachy'. Never admits their own faults, and when criticized, they refuse to engage in conversation, saying, "Do I care?" or "What do you know?"
- If their demands are refused, they throw objects within reach, such as smartphones or remote controls. Verbal abuse is common, and they do not hesitate to resort to physical violence against their cousin, Jo Gosam.
- Never apologizes for problems caused by their own actions. They blame others for everything, saying, "You started it," or "I never did that."
