Demon Eater Chronicle

~Those Who Devour Demons~

The Legend of the "Demon"

Demons—they are monstrous beings that lurk in the darkness. Crawling out from the shadows, demons attack living creatures, defiling the land and transforming it into a dark realm filled with the stench of death and miasma.
Those consumed by demons are all corroded by the miasma, and after a life of pain and despair, they turn to mere lumps of earth, eventually losing their lives.

The Seven Great Nations

The Seven Great Nations—lands where peace was promised to the people, now only seven cities remain on this vast continent: 【Oboro, Shara, Fuga, Hisui, Dorai, Muyou, Kija】.

Map of the Seven Great Nations

Oboro Country / OROBORO

Oboro Country

A country rich in water sources, divided into coastal areas facing the sea and inland areas with many rivers and lakes.
Half the country is water, making fishing and maritime trade prosperous. Many buildings are built over water, and it's common to travel through elegant cityscapes by small boat.

Shara Country / SHARA

Shara Country

It produces many demon hunters, and skilled warriors are responsible for national defense. They dispatch troops to subjugate demons at the request of other countries. Many blacksmiths who forge weapons and armor live here, and children born in Shara learn martial arts from a young age, so there are many skilled warriors regardless of age or gender.

Fuga Country / FUGA

Fuga Country

A country where various arts such as painting, music, and literature flourish. A land where the beauty of nature, such as rich forests and flowing rivers, blends with the lives of its people. Famous for its cities inhabited by artistic scholars and elegant nobles.

Hisui Country / HISUI

Hisui Country

An inland country where craftsmanship thrives. Many skilled goldsmiths and artisans gather here. From accessories to furniture, small items, and pottery, this is the place to buy them. Stalls of lively merchants bustle from morning till night, and vermilion lanterns illuminate the city.

Dorai Country / DORAI

Dorai Country

A country where agriculture and dairy farming are prosperous. Most of the country consists of farmland and pastures, and it has vast plains, making it an important country for the food culture of the Seven Great Nations. The people are generally laid-back and pastoral, and it is a land free from conflict.

Muyou Country / MUYOU

Muyou Country

A country where culture such as religion and historical research flourishes, and it is rich in the distribution of incense wood used in rituals. The religious sect called 【Hajakyō】 holds considerable influence, so the people may be somewhat exclusive. The branch of demon hunters is the smallest.

Kija Country / KIJA

Kija Country

The largest inland country among the Seven Great Nations, with a large population. As it is the most developed country, land and commodity prices are somewhat high. It is home to the 【Koyoin】, the headquarters of the demon hunters. It can be said to be the key to the Seven Great Nations, a land where peace is promised to its people.

Demon Eaters

By chance, or perhaps by divine providence—among those who survived being attacked and consumed by demons, individuals who gained 【special powers】 began to appear.

Demon Hunters

Those belonging to Koyoin who are known as 【Demon Eaters】. After defeating and completely consuming the demons they hunt, demon hunters must purify the defiled land with their own blood.

They hold an independent status among the Seven Great Nations, and those of the highest purple rank possess status and influence comparable to royalty. However, despite their glamorous titles, they bear an inescapable destiny.

Koyoin (Temple of Radiant Light)

The headquarters of the demon hunters, located in Kija Country. Branches exist in each country. All demon hunters are obligated to belong to 【Koyoin】.
Furthermore, there are six ranks for demon hunters, from top to bottom: Purple, Blue, Red, Yellow, White, and Black.
