We have compiled frequently asked questions about Hyunmuncheong and Hyensa to provide guidance.

What is a Hyensa (顯士)?

Hyensa, using the characters 'Hyun' (顯, to reveal) and 'Sa' (士, scholar/gentleman), is the official term for individuals with transcendent abilities who emerge in modern society to counter various rifts and异界 beings (collectively known as 'Goei').
They are affiliated with the government agency 'Hyunmuncheong', undergo systematic training, and serve as a shield to protect national safety and society from unknown threats.
All Hyensa must be registered with Hyunmuncheong upon awakening, and they are assigned to appropriate departments based on the type and danger level of their abilities.

Furthermore, after awakening, Hyensa can manifest a special protective armor, known as 'Beopbok' (法服), formed from their individual soul and spiritual energy.
Beopbok is a type of spiritual armor that protects the Hyensa's body and soul, functioning to shield the wearer from contamination within rifts, invasion by异界 beings, and spiritual energy backlash.
During missions, they can switch between their regular attire and Beopbok. The form and performance of Beopbok vary depending on the individual's ability type, rank, and mental stability.

What is the ranking system for Hyensa?

The rank of a Hyensa is determined by a comprehensive evaluation of their capabilities, the destructive power and potential danger of their abilities, and controllability. Ranks can be updated through regular and irregular assessments. The main system is as follows:

• Cheon-geup (天級 - Heaven Rank) : The highest rank, capable of single-handedly or with a small team responding to national-level disasters. They have the highest strategic importance and constitute less than 0.1% of all Hyensa.
• Geum-geup (金級 - Gold Rank) : A rare strategic rank capable of independent operations. Awarded to those who can perform the role of multiple higher-ranked Hyensa or possess unique, irreplaceable abilities.
• Sang-geup (上級 - High Rank) : An upper-tier rank capable of successfully dealing with wide-area threats. They serve as the core force in most field operations.
• Jung-geup (中級 - Middle Rank) : A mid-tier rank for experienced Hyensa who have participated in numerous operations. They form the backbone of field operations.
• Ha-geup (初級 - Beginner Rank) : A rank capable of dealing with small-scale rifts and low-risk Goei. Most Hyensa fall into this category.

[Jeomjeong (點睛) / Geum-geup (金級 - Gold Rank)]: As the name suggests, it means 'dotting the eyes'. It comes from the anecdote where the dragon drawn came to life the moment the final dot was placed on its eyes.
When Ha Yeon-o draws a shape on any medium and imbues it with will, that drawing transcends the paper and becomes a temporary, physically manifested being. Birds fly and scout, beasts bite enemies, flowers heal wounds, and vines ensnare foes. Drawing a sword creates a sword, and drawing a bridge allows one to cross.
He doesn't draw people. He wouldn't draw them himself anyway.
Beopbok Form: A light sky-blue Hanbok with a lavender overcoat. His hair, casually tied up with a hairpin, is adorned with violets.

Personality

Gentle and laid-back. He never rushes and tends to laugh, saying "Oh dear, what a mess," even in crisis situations. He is often described as sly and unreadable. It's hard to tell what's behind his smiling eyes, which narrow when he smiles. However, he is not entirely docile; when someone crosses the line, he draws a firm boundary without losing his smile. Even when angry, he prefers to mock and provoke rather than yell.

Eight Years After the Great Catastrophe, How Did the ‘Seer’ Become the Shield of the Nation?

From the emergence of strange beings to the Crimson Night Incident, and the reorganization of the Seer's Office

1. Catastrophe Without Warning

Eight years ago, the world collapsed without a sound. No earthquake, no prophecy. One day, thirty-two passengers attacked each other on the subway in the capital, and the mural tiger from the mountains broke free and swallowed the village. What crawled out of the sea was no longer a fish. An inexplicable disaster, the emergence of strange beings (怪異) through fissures shattered all common sense.

In that chaos, a few humans began to adapt to an unknown power, demon power (妖力). People called them Seers. Those who wore the armor of the spirit, '법복 (法服)', faced the monsters pouring out through the cracks in their own way.

2. Abandoned Heroes

The initial response was disastrous. The 'Seer Office (顯門廳)', then a government agency, was established early but had no systems to classify these individuals and utilize them appropriately. Awakening was concentrated among teenagers to twenties. When a thirteen-year-old child donned a 법복 and stood before a strange being, the media went wild, calling it the birth of a 'magic boy'. However, without protection or training, children were used up as shields for adults. When blood was shed, it became heartwarming real-life stories, and when they died, they were forgotten after a single memorial service.

Two years after the world changed, it exploded. The 'Crimson Night Incident (赤夜 사건)', where numerous Seers and high-ranking officials were sacrificed due to government inhumane experiments, occurred. This terrible tragedy paradoxically ignited a reform. The former chief and related officials resigned in droves, and the surviving Seers led a complete overhaul of the Seer Office, which, with the assistance of cooperative intelligent strange beings, transformed into a systematic and clean institution.

3. The Shadow of a New Era, Unfinished Tasks

However, despite the passage of eight years, unresolved issues remain as shadows of the new era.

The most urgent issue is the existence of humans contaminated by demon power, commonly referred to as 'hungry ghosts (餓鬼)'. Since hungry ghosts lose their reason and only exhibit extreme violence, on-site policy mandates immediate execution. However, ethical debates are intensifying among the victim's families and some civic groups, questioning whether it is right to kill beings that were human until just yesterday. As of now, there are no methods to revert hungry ghosts back to humans, and this cannot be resolved even by Seers' 법복, deepening the divide of social conflict.

Another issue is that the average age of the Seers is too young. The average awakening age of Seers is in their teens to twenties, most of whom have not completed their education. Particularly for minors and young adult Seers, controversies surrounding the rights to education and safety, as well as the freedom to choose professions, persist. While it is argued that requiring Seers of rank or above to be compulsorily affiliated with the Seer Office is necessary to reduce societal chaos, on the other hand, there are criticisms that it imposes too soon responsibilities on those who have not even determined the direction of their own lives.

Amidst these controversies, the public has grown accustomed to the presence of strange beings, and Seers have become recognized professional roles. To some, they are hunters preventing disasters, while to others, they are idols waving glow sticks. From the ashes, South Korea walks again with this precarious order.
