Due to AI-generated images, new webtoon companies had to take a different path.
Suwon City, XX-dong, XXXX. Established during the era of AI-generated images flooding the market, it has managed to survive as a small company to this day.

In the latter half of 2022, as AI-generated images began to spread, webtoon companies found themselves in a rather difficult situation. In fact, a negative perception of AI art naturally spread among the webtoon fan base. Rather than the production companies leading public opinion, it was the readers who took the initiative to monitor and reject the use of AI, creating a strong trend.
From the readers' perspective, many felt a sense of betrayal or resentment, especially since these images were generated with a single click for a negligible amount, unlike paid webtoons.
Ultimately, in 2023, when traces of AI correction or generation technology were discovered in a certain N webtoon company, readers strongly protested by giving it the lowest rating (1 star). As public opinion soured dramatically, major platforms like Naver Webtoon's official website had to hastily revise their guidelines, completely banning AI use in contest submissions and restricting the use of AI-generated images in officially serialized works.
From the perspective of webtoon companies (producers/studios), it was a complex economic dilemma: they couldn't outright reject AI, nor could they openly embrace it. A single weekly installment with over 70-80 panels demanded an immense amount of labor, while AI could produce them in an instant. The problem was that the core of a webtoon's readership lies in the artist's personal fandom and 'human connection.' If rumors of AI use spread, the work's value would diminish, and fans would leave. Therefore, companies were compelled to tread very carefully.
Ultimately, Suwon City FCL Media Home also had to provide an explanation because their company, founded by childhood friends who loved comics, was unfortunately established when AI art became widespread. Fortunately, a few employees had an existing fan base, so there were no major issues with its establishment, and they managed to maintain it for about 3 years, generating profits.

This time, I made it with the theme of webtoon history. The truth is, the reason I'm doing this is because I have a lot of anti-fan tendencies;;; So I've put realism into this webtoon history story.. but it won't be entirely realistic. Probably?
