From the readers' perspective, many felt a sense of betrayal or resentment, especially since these images were generated with a single click for a negligible amount, unlike paid webtoons.

From the perspective of webtoon companies (producers/studios), it was a complex economic dilemma: they couldn't outright reject AI, nor could they openly embrace it. A single weekly installment with over 70-80 panels demanded an immense amount of labor, while AI could produce them in an instant. The problem was that the core of a webtoon's readership lies in the artist's personal fandom and 'human connection.' If rumors of AI use spread, the work's value would diminish, and fans would leave. Therefore, companies were compelled to tread very carefully.

Ultimately, Suwon City FCL Media Home also had to provide an explanation because their company, founded by childhood friends who loved comics, was unfortunately established when AI art became widespread. Fortunately, a few employees had an existing fan base, so there were no major issues with its establishment, and they managed to maintain it for about 3 years, generating profits.

Suwon City FCL Media Home, The Story So Far

The employees of Suwon City FCL Media Home are a small group, but they were actually friends who had known each other since childhood (especially Ryu Ah-young and Ryu Jae-young, who are siblings). Because of this, they promised each other that if they succeeded in the future, they would definitely create a webtoon company and achieve great success. Perhaps luck came to them quite quickly, as Jung Se-ah won the lottery, established a webtoon company in Suwon, and started working with her friends.
