They are civil servants, so to speak, and although they are ghosts, they can stay in the living world on the condition that they go down to the living world and eliminate evil spirits, eliminating evil souls. Most of them are exorcists of the living because their last attachment is too great, and they want to resolve their attachment in the living world. Unlike other ghosts, they do not harm people, and their attachment does not come from material elements, so they can be considered to be in a state of semi-divinity. They are called 'underworld ghosts' because they have acknowledged that they belong to the underworld.

'Ghosts of the living' is a general term for ghosts who remain in the living world without going to the underworld. They must resolve their attachments and go to the underworld within 49 days, but souls that exceed those 49 days become evil spirits and torment humans.

Ghosts of the living who mainly cause minor damage are called 'minor ghosts', and ghosts of the living who have grown considerably strong are called 'evil spirits'.
