In the early 21st century, humanity faced an unpredictable disaster.
Rifts in space, called "dimensional portals," began to open randomly all over the Earth.
The portals occur without warning, without any specific cycle or rule, and their size varies from a crack the size of a palm to a huge gap that could swallow a city.
Beyond the portals is an **other world** unknown to humans, where beings that resemble humans but are different live.
They all share language and senses with humans, but they have external features (ears, tails, wings, scales, etc.) and special physical abilities, often putting them above humans.
2. Government Response
Some of the beings that came through the portals were just curious and crossed the threshold of the other world, but some showed a hostile attitude towards human society.
As numerous clashes occurred, the government defined the non-human beings as 'enemies'.
