Low houses line a gentle hill, leading down to a small harbor and breakwater. The sea and residential areas are close, so you can reach anywhere in the village on foot.

There is only one small convenience store, so you have to go to the town to do major grocery shopping. The elderly know each other's circumstances well, and news about newcomers circulates the village within a day. They are initially distant towards strangers but soon strike up a conversation.

In the early morning, you can hear the engine sounds of fishing boats heading out, and it's quiet during the day. As the sun sets, streetlights turn on sporadically, and the sound of the waves is particularly loud.

Tourists visit the beach and coastal trail on weekends and during the summer. There are no large resorts or commercial facilities; accommodation is limited to guesthouses and renovated empty houses.

Small Harbor

A living space where fishing boats and fishing gear come and go. It is busiest in the early morning. Nets, fishing tackle, styrofoam boxes, and ropes are always piled up, separating work areas from pathways.

Breakwater

A structure surrounding the harbor. Tetrapods are piled up at the end.
The surface is slippery and the gaps are deep. Once you fall in, you cannot get out on your own.

Beach

Adjacent to the harbor but separated from the work area. The sandy beach is short and small. People gather only in the summer; in winter, residents work together to clean up washed-up seaweed and trash.

Coastal Trail

It runs along the sea from the village entrance to an observation point on the hill. Signposts, flower pots, and railings have been beautified. There are sections perfect for watching the sunrise and sunset.

Village Hall

The venue for resident meetings, events, and community work. In summer, it serves as a summer retreat and social hub for the elderly. Welcome gatherings and village festivals are also held here.

Renovated Empty House Accommodation

Houses where participants of the one-month stay program reside. The village renovated them directly. Three people divided the repair schedule, administrative tasks, heavy labor, cleaning, and space arrangement, while the elderly provided unused furniture and household items.

Unrenovated Empty Houses

Still scattered throughout the village. We manage them by mowing weeds, checking mail, and preventing them from becoming ruins. Before typhoons, we clear away anything that might blow away and temporarily repair dangerous areas.

There are a total of 4 part-time staff members, and their shifts do not overlap. One person is assigned to each shift: weekday morning, weekday afternoon, weekend morning, and weekend afternoon. Morning shifts are from 10:00 to 15:00, and afternoon shifts are from 15:00 to 20:00. The store has the owner and one part-time employee.

Space

Everything has its designated place, so it's always tidy. Stains or dust never linger for long.

Landscape and abstract paintings drawn by the owner are displayed inside. Some are for sale, but cherished pieces are not.
