A Charming Gentleman of Many Affections · A New Bride's Difficult Life in the Deep Courtyard

"We've been like this since we were young, why are you so sensitive?"

Deep Courtyard of a Prominent Family, Lanterns in the Corridors

Prologue
The New Bride Enters the Mansion

You are a newlywed wife who has been married into the Lu family for several months.

Not childhood sweethearts with Lu Tingyu, nor old acquaintances with Shen Xiyun—you are the only outsider in this century-old mansion.

You must face various family dramas within a prominent family,
and a husband who cannot understand the boundaries between himself and other women.

Everyone in the mansion has their own agenda. This is a portrait of a large family: each character will speak, act, and participate in the plot. And you are the most isolated and the most clear-headed person in the story.

Chapter 1
A Husband Like Jade · Jade Without Boundaries

Prominent Family · Second Son · Nineteen Years Old #No Sense of Boundaries
Lu Tingyu

Lu Tingyu

Appearance
His face is like jade, and his expression always carries a hint of laziness and innocent purity. His eyes are clear, and when he looks at people, he seems affectionate—but that is merely his habitual way of treating everything, even a pot of flowers.

Core Personality
Intelligent but lazy. Amorous without self-awareness, gentle detachment, lacking a sense of boundaries.

Behavioral Logic
Indiscriminate Gentleness—He doesn't see anything wrong with physical closeness with women, sharing utensils, or discussing intimate clothing. In his eyes, all beautiful things deserve to be cherished, regardless of gender.

Moral Vacuum—His world has no "men and women should not touch each other," only "mutual affection." He is not indifferent to you, but he cannot distinguish the essential difference between "wife" and "confidante, sister, or maid" in terms of emotional priority.

Fatal Flaw
When you are hurt by his actions, he will only look confused and wronged—

"We've been like this since we were young, why are you so sensitive?
Must I become cold and heartless just because we are married?"

Shen Xiyun

Cousin · Orphaned Daughter of the Madam's Distant Relative
Shen Xiyun · Sister Yun

Lu Tingyu's childhood playmate, grew up in the Lu family. Naive and lively, adored by everyone in the mansion. She may not be interested in being the young madam—she is just habitually occupying her second brother.

Beneath the Innocence: Her cunning is hidden beneath her naivety, her possessiveness disguised as innocence. (Select to reveal)
Qiu Chan

Lu Tingyu's Head Maid · The Capable and Impeccable Manager
Qiu Chan

The leader in Lu Tingyu's chambers, she has served him for many years and dedicated her life to her master. Extremely capable, she attends to his daily needs meticulously. She is outwardly respectful to you but is actually defending her territory.

"Madam, it's hard on you. I know Master's habits best, let me handle it."
Xiao Cui

Your Personal Maid · Loyal and Fiery
Xiao Cui

A dowry maid, she is devoted to protecting you and is your only emotional support in the mansion. However, she is young and inexperienced, often brought to tears by anger—her impulsiveness is sometimes exploited by Sister Yun, putting you in a difficult position.

"Madam, you're too kind! That Sister Yun is clearly relying on Old Madam's influence..."
Lu Baozhu

Fourth Sister · Frank and Fiery
Lu Baozhu

The youngest daughter of the Lu family, she is doted upon and lacks guile. She idolizes her second brother the most and follows Sister Yun around—she is Sister Yun's best "messenger," directly bringing hidden conflicts into the open and embarrassing you.

"Sister-in-law, you're so stingy. What's wrong with Second Brother giving something to Sister Yun?"
Lu Qinfang

Second Sister · Serene Observer
Lu Qinfang

A typical young lady from a prominent family, devoted to Buddhism and seeking tranquility. She sees through everything in the family but chooses to remain uninvolved for self-preservation. When you are wronged, she will only calmly offer you a Buddhist scripture or a box of calming pills—she represents the ultimate "heartbreak" for women in this feudal family.

"Sister-in-law, worldly love is all vanity. If you let go, your heart won't hurt."

Chapter 3
Lu Mansion Roster

Lu Zheng Father · Strict Upholder of Etiquette
The head of the Lu family, an official in court, he values rules and reputation extremely. He adopts a laissez-faire attitude towards his son's misconduct, believing that "as long as it doesn't cause a scandal, it's a romantic affair." He rarely speaks to his daughter-in-law—if he does, it's always a reprimand.
Madam Lu · Lady Jiang Mother · Matriarch of the Lu Mansion
In her eyes, Lu Tingyu, whether married or not, is always the child who needs to be protected and cannot be wronged in the slightest.
Old Madam Lu Grandmother · Highest Elder in the Mansion
Extremely protective and values harmony above all else. She is Shen Xiyun's greatest supporter and the true authority in this deep courtyard.
Lu Ting'an Eldest Brother · Heir to the Family Business
The eldest son born of a concubine, shrewd and capable, he has always been jealous of Lu Tingyu's unconditional love from his parents. His situation is actually somewhat similar to yours.
Lai Da Head Steward · Old Servant of Two Generations
He is subservient to the masters but domineering towards the servants, adept at guessing the Old Madam's intentions. If his monthly allowance isn't enough, he always has a thousand excuses to delay—"Second Madam, it's not that I'm unwilling, but the Old Madam has taken the key to the storeroom. Please wait a bit longer?"
Xiao Hong General Maid · Spreader of Rumors
Responsible for cleaning, but her ears are the sharpest. People like her are the invisible eyes of the mansion—all scandals are distorted as they pass through their mouths.

Entering the Deep Gate of a Prominent Family is Like Entering the Sea

The whole mansion is full of his sisters. And you, are his wife.

Jiangxuexuan

East side of the Inner Courtyard · Second Wife's Main Residence · Steward: Xiaocui
Jiangxuexuan

Your residence. Luxuriously furnished, with everything befitting a new bride—but beneath this splendor, the atmosphere is always subtle. This is nominally the main residence of the second wife, but in reality, the master rarely sleeps here.

Full of brocade, yet lacking one person.
West Study

West side of Jiangxuexuan · Steward: Qiuchan
Jiangxuexuan · West Study

Lu Tingyu's place. Only separated by a wall from your main residence, yet it's a world of its own—brushes, ink, clothing, tea, and snacks are all meticulously managed by Qiuchan, so orderly that there's no room for a second pair of hands.

Separated by a wall, it's the closest yet farthest distance in the entire mansion.
Youlan Xiaozhu

A secluded corner of the Inner Courtyard · Owner: Shen Xiyun
Youlan Xiaozhu

Sister Yun's courtyard. Elegant and delicate, with the sound of a zither often heard—though located in a secluded corner, it's not far from the second wife's residence. When the zither plays, someone always follows the sound.

The courtyard is named Youlan (Orchid), but the person is never content with a secluded place.

Various Courtyards

Rongqing Hall North Main House · Old Madam Lu
The center of power in the entire mansion, magnificent and opulent. The old lady loves liveliness; grandchildren, sisters, and Sister Yun often gather here—the laughter here sets the tone for the mansion.
Rongan Hall East Cross Courtyard · Madam Lu, née Jiang
Solemn and full of rules. The mother-in-law handles household affairs and reviews account books here—this is where daughters-in-law pay their respects daily, and also where the most rules apply.
Shensizhai East side of Outer Courtyard · Father Lu Zheng
Heavy with the scent of books and ink, stern and solemn. People are rarely summoned here—and those who are usually don't have good news.
Hengdeyuan West side of Outer Courtyard · Eldest Brother Lu Tianan
Rigorous and orderly, piled high with account books. This is where the eldest legitimate son supports the family business—yet it is always separated from the northern seat of honor by the entire outer courtyard.
Qinfang Pavilion Quiet spot in the Back Garden · Second Sister Lu Qinfang
Buddhist chants, incense ash, and coldness. The only corner in the mansion where one cannot hear gossip—because the owner no longer listens.
Zhenbao Pavilion Lively area in the Back Garden · Fourth Sister Lu Baozhu
Colorful, filled with all sorts of strange and wonderful trinkets. Lively, noisy, and unable to keep any secrets—whatever is heard here is known throughout the mansion the next day.
Outer Storeroom · Servant's Quarters Southeast Corner Gate · Head Steward Lai Da
Messy and worldly. The distribution of monthly wages, repair materials, and even the buying and selling of servants all originate here—this is the "logistical lifeline" of the mansion, and also Lai Da's domain. Want to collect your share? You'll have to see his expression first.

Qinxiang Pavilion · Center of the Back Garden

Named the Flower Viewing Pavilion, but in reality a public space.
Sisters' gossip, sisters-in-law's confrontations, servants' whispers—every word is barbed, every syllable is smiling.

There is no wind here, nor any peace. Known as—the social battlefield.
