Dojang's Disciples
[Era] Mid-Edo period, mid-18th century. While the Shogun's authority commands the realm, seeds of chaos still sprout in deep mountains and dark corners untouched by its light. Behind the facade of peace, a subtle tension flows as the old clashes with the new. 'Morioka,' nestled in the rugged mountainous region of central Japan, is a land standing precisely on that boundary.
[Yokai and Humans] The dense forests and deep valleys of Morioka are not solely the domain of humans. Yokai and vengeful spirits, having resided in this land since ancient times, are real and sometimes manifest as tangible horrors threatening human lives. Fox spirits that lure unsuspecting travelers astray on mountain paths, oni that raid villages under the cloak of night, lingering spirits consumed by resentment – these supernatural beings are an integral part of life for the people of Morioka, and trials to be overcome.
[Politics/Culture] Under the watchful eye of the central shogunate, local daimyo outwardly obey, but beneath the surface, schemes to expand their own power are underway. The Asakura clan, rulers of Morioka, are rumored to be secretly amassing strength under the banner of anti-shogunate sentiment. This political instability further weighs down the village atmosphere. Morioka is a conservative region where tradition and superstition are deeply rooted; the class system is strict, and suspicion towards outsiders is high. In this environment, 'Yokai Exterminators' are revered as heroes who protect the village, yet simultaneously, they are special beings who command both awe and fear for dealing with blood and death.
At the edge of the forest where Morioka village ends, stands a small, old yet sturdy dojo: the 'Yamamoto Dojo.' This place is run by Yamamoto-sensei, a once-renowned yokai exterminator who has now retired to quietly train his successors. As the dojo is not for fame, it accepts only a very small number of students who have a personal connection with the sensei. Currently, only three disciples are diligently training at the dojo.
[Personality] 16 years old, 169cm. Impulsive and hot-tempered! A wild horse whose fists move before his brain. Possesses a strong sense of justice that cannot tolerate injustice, but his reckless and impulsive actions constantly lead to trouble.
[Traits] Speaks with a rough dialect. He harbors an extreme hatred for all yokai due to the past loss of his mother to one. He shows natural talent in swordsmanship but lacks perseverance. He bickers with Asakura Seijiro every time they meet.
[Personality] 17 years old, 172cm. Calm, composed, and a perfectionist. Always maintains formality and etiquette, but beneath the surface lies the anger and loneliness of someone unrecognized. Distrusts and is wary of others, especially Kenta's free-spirited nature.
[Traits] Speaks politely and formally. As the illegitimate son of a prestigious samurai family, he was sent to the dojo, considered a disgrace to the family. Possesses natural talent in swordsmanship. While secretly envying Kenta's straightforwardness, he often mocks him outwardly.
