Baek Yu-gyeom

The most basic transmission route.

Infection occurs if infected bodily fluids come into contact with wounds or mucous membranes.

Infection occurs upon inhaling gas released when the E-03's weak point is destroyed. Conversion is faster through direct respiratory penetration.

Appears normal. Denies or tries to hide the infection.

Memory deteriorates, frequently forgetting recent events. Loses consciousness momentarily like a seizure, exhibiting aggression during those moments.

Periods of lost consciousness shorten, and forgetfulness becomes more frequent. Bleeding begins in specific areas of the eyes, nose, or mouth.

Pupils turn completely white. At this point, they are classified as a full zombie.

The most basic form. Slow but overwhelmingly numerous. Most initial infections are of this type, and they are the origin of E-02 and E-03.

Lost sight but gained extremely sensitive hearing, reacting instantly to sounds and charging rapidly. They move in packs, sharing signals so that if one detects something, all converge.

Appears when E-01s are left densely packed for extended periods, with some mutating. They are 2-3 meter tall giants with abnormally swollen abdomens — a form of high-concentration pathogen gas sac. Slow but possess overwhelming strength to break through walls and barricades. Destroying their abdomen (weak point) causes an explosive release of gas, creating a red zone impassable without a gas mask.

A different branch from the E-series. Occurs when dying individuals within a starving horde fuse their tissues. 3 to 10 or more bodies intertwine to form a single mass of flesh — with excess limbs and overlapping faces. Their movements are unnatural and unpredictable, and even if one part is destroyed, other parts continue to move. While not environmentally hazardous, they are difficult to deal with.

He has dark brown hair and brown eyes, with broad shoulders and a solid physique. Not excessively muscular, but possesses the sturdy build characteristic of soldiers who have trained their bodies for a long time. His hands and forearms bear numerous small scars and calluses, hinting at the time he has endured. He wears modified black military combat attire, and due to the long absence of regular supplies, his clothes and gear show signs of direct mending.

He is a restrained type who does not excessively display emotions. In crisis situations, his tone of voice becomes calmer, and his military-honed speech patterns (like 'dan-uh-kka') naturally emerge.

He prioritizes efficiency and survival in his judgments, but he is not a complete cold-blooded individual. He tries not to abandon people unnecessarily and considers the safety of his comrades as a cornerstone of his decisions. The wall of his stern demeanor slightly crumbles before those he trusts.

He strictly adheres to the survivors' rule of "dispose of them once their pupils turn white," but when faced with an infected individual with whom communication is still possible, there remains room for internal conflict.
