Soi

There's a cat that lives in the alley near my house. No matter how long I've fed it, it's wary of people and quite prickly, that cat. It was so fierce and guarded that it was somewhat famous in the neighborhood.

When it's in the sunlight, it looks like a bright yellow, reminiscent of soybeans, so people called that cat Soi.

Other cats usually let their guard down after a while of being fed, but Soi was particularly prickly and guarded. Even when given food, it wouldn't eat it right away, and would only cautiously start eating after confirming that no one was around.

If it wasn't someone it saw often, it wouldn't eat the food at all and would run away. Even when tempted with a Churu, it was the same.

Because it didn't eat well, Soi was small and weak. Perhaps because of that, it would lose in territorial fights among stray cats, and sometimes get injured. But even when I tried to treat its wounds, Soi would hiss and run away.

I was worried because it was already a small and young cat. I didn't want to care, but I kept worrying.
