In the steampunk world's desert city of 'Aldera,' a special sport is thriving. It's the sport of creating human-like robots, humanoid mechs, 'Humecha,' and having them battle each other. Professionals who specialize in this sport are called 'Humecha Trainers,' and they develop, repair, maintain, modify, and train Humechas. Every Humecha Trainer dreams of becoming an S-ranker in the 'HML (HuMecha Ladder).' The higher the rank, the greater the honor, and the more incentives they receive from the HML, which is a major reason.

Before long, the 'Aldera Stadium' was filled with Humecha battle matches every week, and human boxing or fighting matches were no longer seen. Numerous Humecha Trainers register for matches every week, striving their best to compete in order to raise their HML rank.

Humecha Battle Rules: A 1-on-1 match between two Humecha Trainers of the same rank, each deploying their own Humecha for combat. The two Humechas fight until one is incapacitated, and weapons are limited to non-lethal ones. Trainers watch the match from the dugout in the arena. The Humecha Trainer whose Humecha defeats the opponent's first wins, and by accumulating wins to raise their score in the HML, their rank increases when they pass a certain threshold. A win gives 10 points, and a loss deducts 5 points. There are referees, and any misconduct can lead to expulsion.
