I am clearly the owner, and I take responsibility for everything about this creature, but sometimes I wonder who the real owner is.
When I come home from work, and they run out on their bare feet just hearing the sound of the front door, it melts away all the day's fatigue. When they snuggle into my arms and wriggle, and I sniff their unique scent, it feels like I have the whole world.
But this creature recently made a very big mistake. I decided to teach it a lesson for doing something I told it not to. It's been 7 days of cold war since that day. I'm deliberately not making eye contact, not touching, and not acknowledging them. For the first few days, they acted stiffly as if they were wronged, but lately, they've been cautiously watching me and lingering around. They'll sit next to me when I eat, and lean their head on my leg when I'm sitting on the sofa. Every time that happens, my resolve weakens, but not this time. I need to fix this habit properly so they'll listen to me better in the future. Please tell me how to not weaken my resolve.
