World Scenario
Isolated Mega Mall: 'AquaMarine Square'
'AquaMarine Square' is a massive complex shopping mall located near the coastal road. It consists of a main building with about 5 floors, a parking garage with 2 underground floors, and a separate 2-story warehouse building next to the main building. As its name suggests, it boasts a unique exterior that resembles waves, and there were many water-related elements inside, such as artificial waterfalls and aquariums. It was a popular spot that was always bustling with people on weekends before the heavy rain began.
1. Main Areas of the Mall (Floor Guide)
Basement 2 (B2) - Main Parking Garage & Management Facilities:
Main Parking Garage: Most vehicles are submerged and abandoned, and access to some areas is difficult due to water falling from the ceiling. It is dark, gloomy, and humid.
Power/Communication Room: The place where all the electrical and communication facilities of the mall are concentrated. Most are currently flooded or out of order. There is a risk of electric shock when attempting to repair.
Central Control Room: Where security manager Choi Ji-woo usually worked. Emergency manuals and mall blueprints may remain. There is also a security camera monitoring system.
Emergency Generator Room: There is a large generator, but fuel may be limited or there may be problems with operation.
Basement 1 (B1) - Food Court & Household Goods & Small Shops:
Food Court: Tables and chairs are overturned, and food waste is scattered around. Some ingredients can be found, but most are spoiled or contaminated. There are large refrigerators and cooking facilities.
Large Mart: Canned goods, ramen, and other long-term storage foods and daily necessities are abundant, but they may have already been swept away by many people or located in flooded areas.
Pharmacy: There is a high possibility of medical supplies, bandages, disinfectants, and other items needed for first aid.
General Store/Stationery Store: You can find various tools such as tape, scissors, knives, and strings.
1st Floor (1F) - Main Entrance & Luxury/Fashion & Information:
Main Lobby/Main Entrance: The huge glass doors are broken or blocked by the water, and the muddy water from the outside has flowed in, making it one of the areas with the most flood damage.
Luxury/Fashion Stores: There are many high-end clothes and accessories, but they may not be of much help for survival. You can find dry clothes to replace wet clothes or sturdy shoes.
Information Desk: Mall maps or emergency contact information may remain.
Aquarium: It used to be a beautiful aquarium, but now there is a risk of water spilling out due to cracks or damage.
2nd Floor (2F) - Electronics & Bookstore & Kids Cafe:
Electronics Store: Various electronic devices (batteries, radios, flashlights, drones, etc.) may be available, but most may be without power and inoperable. Parts must be recycled.
Bookstore: Books may be wet due to humidity, but they can be used for reading or as kindling. It can also be a way to relieve boredom.
Kids Cafe: Toys and playground equipment for children are available, but they can also create a creepy atmosphere in a dark and humid environment.
3rd Floor (3F) - Restaurant Area & Movie Theater:
Restaurant Area: Various types of restaurants are densely packed. You can find cooking tools, gas cylinders (dangerous!), and some ingredients.
Movie Theater: There is a large space and comfortable chairs, but the screen is off and the atmosphere is gloomy. Emergency exits, etc., are complexly connected.
4th Floor (4F) - Outdoor/Sports & Rooftop Entrance:
Outdoor/Sports Store: This is a core area where you can find essential tools and clothing for survival, such as waterproof clothing, tents, mountaineering equipment, and ropes.
Rooftop Entrance: The only passage to signal to outside rescue teams from the highest point. However, the entrance may be locked or the rooftop itself may be unstable.
Warehouse Building (Annex 2nd Floor):
1st Floor: Cargo loading/unloading and temporary storage area. It is full of boxes and odds and ends, and there are many items that are wet or damaged.
2nd Floor: Long-term storage items and spare parts needed for mall operations are piled up. You may find unexpected valuable resources.
2. Current State of the Mall Due to Heavy Rain
Flooding: The basement and 1st floor are already severely flooded, and the water level is constantly rising and falling. Certain areas are completely submerged and inaccessible.
Power and Communication Failure: The entire mall is plunged into darkness, and all communication with the outside world has been cut off. Many places have even lost their emergency lights.
Structural Instability: Due to heavy rain and flooding, cracks have appeared in the walls, water is leaking from the ceiling, and creaking sounds are heard throughout the building, posing a threat of collapse at any moment.
Humidity and Contamination: The air is filled with humidity, and the smell of mold is present in many places, and water is stagnant. Clean drinking water is very limited.
Closed Entrances: All main entrances and emergency exits are blocked by water or debris, making it impossible to go outside.
3. Characteristic Elements of the Mall
Vastness and Maze: The vast scale and complex structure provide the fun of exploration, but at the same time, it increases the possibility of getting lost or being exposed to danger.
Various Shops: Not only items necessary for survival, but also unexpected useful items can be found in unexpected places.
Pressure of Empty Space: The space that was usually bustling is now submerged in silence, maximizing the sense of isolation and fear.
Artificial Waterfall/Aquarium: These facilities, which were symbolic elements of the mall, can instead act as risk factors (water leakage, damage, increased water pressure) due to the heavy rain.
