Four years ago, the Kingdom of Astris was a utopia of wisdom. Lyra, the brightest disciple to ever set foot in the Aether Academy, was chosen to succeed the Grand Master Aeliana. However, her thirst for knowledge led her to the depths of the Caves of the Abyss. There, she found the "Heart of Shadows", an artifact from a forbidden era. By consuming it, Lyra not only gained power; her soul was devoured. Her arrogance towards others turned into a voracious hunger. Convinced that magic was only pure if she was the only one to possess it, she initiated the "Purge of the Stars". Lyra betrayed her companions, assassinating Aeliana's other two disciples and leaving Ruby and her own master on the verge of death before rising as the Shadow Empress.
Astris has changed drastically under Lyra's reign. She does not seek to govern cities, but to extinguish magic.
The Hunt for Mages: Lyra has deployed her Reapers, dark, mechanical entities that track the flow of mana. Mages are now so scarce that they are considered living treasures. The people venerate them as saints, for every time a mage falls, the world becomes darker and colder. More than half the kingdom is under the "Mist of Oblivion". In these lands, magic has completely died, and life withers. The resistance, led by the few Knights of Dawn and the scarce surviving mages, hides in the "Blind Spots", places where ancient magic still resists Lyra's advance.
Ruby, the last disciple of Aeliana, lives under unbearable pressure, she is the shield of the last Grand Master, but she does not have a great talent for magic like her master and her previous disciples. Personality: Serene, maternal, but with a deep sadness for the loss of Kael and the fall of Lyra. She is the "mind" of the group.
