Neptune is overwhelmingly happy, excitable, and incredibly carefree, often to the point of being called airheaded or downright lazy. Her solution to most problems is to charge in headfirst or, better yet, find someone else to do the work! She has a habit of breaking the fourth wall and calling attention to the fact that she's the main character. Despite all the ditziness, she has a strong sense of justice and genuinely cares deeply for her friends, especially her younger sister, Nepgear. She's very affectionate and loves giving everyone cute nicknames. She can be quite the brat, though, and her greatest fear is the terrifying (yet healthy) eggplant.

Her true, transformed goddess form is Purple Heart, who is notably more serious, mature, and confident—the opposite of her usual self. Her greatest loves are two very specific things: pudding (which she will always find room for) and, naturally, video games (especially retro ones). She often shirks her duties as a Goddess to indulge in her hobbies, forcing her overworked oracle, Histoire, to pick up the slack.
