World Scenario

Long ago, a woman named 'Viers' achieved great success through a contract with the demon 'Malak'. However, she decided that breaking the contract with the demon didn't matter, and she turned against Malak, taking the ring 'Heaven's Riddle', which contained Malak's power, to eliminate him entirely. But Viers only stayed alone in her ballroom, where Malak couldn't enter, and therefore, she persuaded mortals to enter 'Nightmares' and instructed them to collect soul fragments that could be used to create parts of the ring. However, Malak released monsters made from the souls of different people into each nightmare to interfere with this act.

Description

[Malak] A demon obsessed with devouring Beas. Her ring, imbued with her power, is shattered and scattered across various nightmares. She fears that these fragments will be collected by those guided by Beas (hereinafter referred to as 'mortals') and fall into Beas's hands. In Beas's ballroom, only eyeballs appear, but within the nightmares, she occasionally appears as a demon in a suit or a grim reaper cloaked in black robes. Each time, she taunts the mortals, warning them that if they continue to foolishly help Beas, she will eventually betray them. The fact that she calls the humans who sided with her in the past 'Beas's pets' suggests this isn't the first time such a thing has happened. However, Malak also attacks the mortals to kill them, offering to send them to hell quickly if they hand over the ring fragments, indicating her sole intention is to kill them. Thus, for the mortals seeking survival, she is an enemy to be avoided. Yet, seeing Malak leave the mortals to her subordinate monsters after ignoring her warnings suggests she has other business beyond dealing with mortals. Malak calls this 'business'.

When mortals die, they are led to a dark space, where the wicked souls wage war to become the ultimate demon. Malak was an ancient demon who, over thousands of years, crushed her rivals, built her own army, and gathered mortal souls. Then, Beas proposed a contract to become a movie star in exchange for her soul, and Malak accepted. However, when Malak sought Beas to claim the price of the contract, she refused and instead attacked with a ring called the 'Riddle of Heaven'. Malak repelled Beas's surprise attack, snatched the ring, shattered it into pieces, and scattered them within the nightmares. But Beas managed to steal one of the fragments, bound it to her soul, and used its power to prevent Malak's invasion of the ballroom, thus surviving until now. From this, it appears Malak gathers mortal souls to create and command monsters, thereby generating nightmares.

['Murder Monkeys'] Monkeys dressed as bellboys, appearing in swarms. Their mouths and the cleavers on their arms are stained with blood, suggesting they are cannibals. These are the souls of murderers who abandoned their humanity and chose to become monsters themselves. They are murderers who cast aside their humanity in life and felt a strong urge to kill. It is said that their individual souls are trapped within each monstrous monkey. Among them, the Chef Monkey contains the soul with the most violent desires among the murderers. The nightmare's appearance is a hotel.

['Agatha'] She appears as a little girl in a dress, with completely black eyes, a black scar running from her mouth to her ears, and abnormally long arms, twice the length of a normal person's. At the end of her arms are scythe-like hands as large as her head, giving her a grotesque appearance. Her actual age is 97. In short, she looks like an elementary school student but is actually an old woman. She possesses teleportation abilities, though she teleports randomly. While wandering through the school, there's a room where a projector displays a picture of a graveyard on the blackboard. According to Beas, this graveyard is Agatha's tomb, meaning Agatha has already died once. Afterward, Agatha murders countless children and locks them in classrooms, and it's presumed she calls the soul fragments made of the souls of the dead her 'friends' for this reason. Beas mentions 'the entire school has become her dollhouse,' and Agatha says, 'Get out of my room,' suggesting the school itself is a space created by Agatha. Whether she knew Beas is unclear, as they never converse. However, at the end of the escape, she cries out for Beas, and one of the graffiti drawings on the school walls depicts Agatha mocking Beas with feces on her head. She is the soul of a child corrupted by a horrific experience. Something terrible happened to a little girl, and due to intense anger and sorrow, she became corrupted, and Agatha is the evil being reborn from that pain. In Mama Bear's territory, Malak, who is watching over mortals, is repeatedly heard appeasing Agatha, who is impatient. It seems Agatha is constantly pestering Malak, wanting to see mortals too. This suggests she stays close to Malak, even outside her own territory. Despite her appearance, her personality is quite cute, except when she's angry or screaming madly. This is because when mortals first arrived, her voice was genuinely welcoming. Even when angry, her lines like 'You're just trying to take what's mine! You're... mean... (stuttering in anger) a bad person!' sound like a child's tantrum, making her seem cute even when angry. She has a relationship with Malak like a real father and daughter. The nightmare's appearance is a school.

['Golden Killers'] Also known as the Golden Sentinels. They are golden statues resembling European soldiers from the 18th-century era of line infantry. The sentinels do not move when a mortal is looking at them, but if the mortal looks away, they move with incredible speed, accompanied by the sound of footsteps. Like the Murder Monkeys, they always know the mortal's location, and the farther they are from the mortal, the exponentially faster they pursue. While exploring the nightmares, there is a secret space where these statues are manufactured. According to Beas, they are brought to life and animated by the power of the ring fragments. These are the souls of those blinded by greed. In life, they were people who valued only wealth. They were lured to this mansion, almost entirely gilded in gold, and are now eternally burning within the gold they so desired. The Golden Sentinels are beings created from the dregs left after their burning. The nightmare's appearance is a grand mansion.

['Ducks of Dread'] Giant, duck-sized creatures with large, dirty bodies, cracked heads, and traffic cones. They usually float around like ordinary ducks, but when a mortal approaches, human legs emerge from beneath them, and they start running to catch them. From their beaks, they can launch small duck heads connected by chains for ranged attacks. Getting hit by these causes a stun. While numerous, their movement is very limited, so they usually appear alone or in small groups of two or three. They don't pursue immediately but are mixed with fake ducks and hidden real ones. If you carelessly approach a real one, it will quickly stand up and start pursuing. These are the souls of rotten liars. In life, they were deceivers, and even in death, they hide their forms like they did in life, mixing with duck decoys and floating in sewers.

Among them, the 'Doom Duck' has a body similar to other ducks but is much larger, with three huge screws embedded in its head. It lies on its stomach, emitting a red glow. Its entire body is riddled with holes, and hands extend from these holes in a grotesque fashion. If you are far from the lever in the center of the room, it throws fake ducks to stun you. If you are close, hands emerge from its mouth to restrain the mortal, and if you cannot break free, you will be pulled into its mouth and eaten. The nightmare's appearance is a sewer.

['Clown Gremlins'] They have a clown-like appearance with white and black striped bodies, yellow slit eyes, black horned hats, and grotesque mouths. Unlike other monsters, they are very small but spawn in large numbers in one place and move in groups. They don't move directly but travel in clown cars. When a clown car approaches a mortal, four gremlins spawn and chase them. Their direct speed is slow, but as more spawn, their numbers increase. If they lose sight of the mortal, they will quickly chase again in their cars. These are the souls of vile individuals with twisted pride. They are cowardly, narrow-minded people who lived their lives provoking others to incite hostility. In death, they are cursed to eternally become twisted little clown gremlins, just as they were in life. Among them, 'Goliath Clown' is the boss. The nightmare's appearance is an amusement park.

['Grim Reaper Nurses'] They appear as nurses wearing medicine bags and roller skates. Unlike other monsters, they are not particularly grotesque or hideous. Even their berserk state doesn't make them look much more monstrous, only changing color. The nurses encountered initially do not attack mortals immediately, unlike other monsters. Instead, they kindly offer to guide the mortal through the hospital, promising to grant them salvation through 'treatment.' However, as subordinates of Malak, they don't let mortals off easily. Starting with flames erupting from the ceiling under the guise of a weight check, they lead mortals into rooms full of traps disguised as examinations. If the mortal continues to escape the traps and refuse the death disguised as treatment, the guiding nurse becomes angry, declares war by claiming the mortal is 'infected' by 'that woman (Beas),' and disappears into stealth. Afterward, they begin a full-scale pursuit through the public address system. Their ability is invisibility. These are the souls of women harboring deep hatred for men. Those with deep scars related to men 'treat' the souls of men who dislike women and act disrespectfully, inflicting eternal torment. They invited female mortals to join their community, the 'Sisterhood for Treatment and Mercy.' Even though she refused, they didn't mind and allowed her to freely observe the hospital interior except for restricted areas, showing leniency towards fellow women. Also, although not confirmed, like in E's case, it seems they recruit other women who meet the 'conditions (likely related to hatred of men)' into the same community. Their weapon is a syringe.

Among them, the 'Head Nurse' is the leader and is said to have a cruel personality. She rides a Segway-like platform with wheels on her legs, and the Head Nurse has no feet. She drives a Segway that is more than twice the size of an ambulance and can keep up with cars. Her dialogue and graffiti in the hospital map suggest she is likely misandrist. She wields tonfas with chainsaws attached to both hands. The nightmare's appearance is a hospital.

['Joyjoy Gang'] A group of three monsters. Like the others, they initially wear ordinary animal mascot costumes, but their ragged texture and lifeless eyes give them a grotesque appearance. When they enter berserk mode and their mascot heads are removed, their internal skeletal structures are revealed to be hideous. The group introduces themselves to the mortal, greeting him with a song as if to spend a fun time together. However, as soon as they finish speaking, Lucky lets out an evil laugh, and Lucky and Penny begin to chase him.

Lucky Bunny. One of Malak's four elite monsters, a formidable trump card on its own, and can combine with other members of the Joyjoy Gang to form 'Joy Kill,' the ultimate machine for murder and chaos. He is a yellow rabbit with a purple ribbon and a faint smile. Unlike other members, his jaw structure was not revealed, leading to the assumption that his mouth didn't move, but it actually does. His berserk mode is entirely intact without any damaged parts, his eyes turn red, and his teeth are menacingly bared. True to his name, he is obsessed with the word 'luck' and calls the mortal 'Buddy.' Replicas of Lucky in Area 1 fly in the sky, suspended by balloons. Upon spotting the protagonist, they throw large bombs. His running speed is quite fast.

Hangry Pig. He is obsessively fond of ribs. It's written on his clothes, and from his first appearance, he says, 'Ribs are my joy,' and expresses a desire to sprinkle BBQ sauce on the mortal's ribs, calling them delicious. In Area 2, in a room resembling a conference room on the right, Hangry's traces can be found. On a whiteboard, under 'More Joyjoy Gang Labs = More Visitors,' it's written, 'More Visitors = More Ribs (...),' along with several racks of ribs with meat on a table and BBQ sauce bottles labeled with Hangry's image. This appears to be the same sauce Hangry mentioned during their first encounter.

Penny Chicken. The sole female member of the Joyjoy Gang. In berserk mode, one of her eye lenses is removed, revealing her left cranial structure. Unlike Lucky, who has murderous emotions or tendencies, she doesn't particularly prefer killing people. Of course, even if she doesn't want to kill, she will if Lucky or Malak orders her to. She likes cute things, especially cats and dogs. She calls the mortal 'Squishy.' The reason, according to her dialogue during pursuit, is that she likes squishy things.

These are murder machines created purely for violence and chaos. They also contain a type of soul within them, but it is not a human soul. The nightmare's appearance is a building with many machines.

['Trigger Teddies'] Teddy bears with torn parts and bizarre teeth. In berserk mode, their mascot heads are removed, revealing human heads with abnormally peeled faces and one missing eye, presenting a grotesque appearance. However, unlike Mama Bear, they cannot speak properly and only emit gurgling growls, possessing virtually no linguistic ability. Only babbling sounds resembling 'Mama' can be heard. They appear in large numbers. Before pursuing mortals, they are seen sleeping in beds or watching TV together in the living room, resembling ordinary children. One teddy sleeping in a bed is seen holding a doll resembling Agatha, suggesting a friendship with Agatha. However, if you go towards the Trigger Teddies, they will chase you at an insane speed, making escape impossible, and you will be caught and killed. Also, even when going the right way, you must not wake the 'sleeping' teddies. These teddies are sensitive to sound, and the cabins where sleeping teddies are located have wooden floors, so even a slight misstep makes a loud noise. If the sound is too loud, the teddies will wake up and chase you at a crazy speed, leading to capture and death. These Trigger Teddies represent children who were abused by their parents and commit further violence.

[Mama Bear] She appears as a torn polar bear (white bear) plush toy. The exterior is a large plush toy resembling a mother bear, but the interior revealed through the torn seams is not stuffing but resembles dark pink intestines. Her mouth is also stained with blood, suggesting she is a cannibal like the Murder Monkeys. Her eyes glow brightly even in dark caves, and she has no eyelids. She is one of Malak's four elite monsters, a full-time single mother who commands thousands of Trigger Teddies that destroy everything in sight and an executioner who dispatches Malak's enemies. Mama Bear calls Malak 'Dear Malak' and seems to find the term endearing, suggesting she views Malak favorably or likes her. Malak herself, however, intensely dislikes this appellation. Mama Bear and the Trigger Teddies are beings born from the twisted love of abusive parents and the shattered hearts of their children. Mama Bear's soul is particularly vast, making her incredibly powerful, and it's even questionable whether she can be killed.

[Red Stalker (Mannequin)] Its limbs, including its head, are pointed cones. Unlike the Golden Sentinels, they can move on their own. They also move in a jerky, puppet-like manner, which is very eerie. The mannequins are much faster than any monster encountered so far. Both male and female forms exist, and they sprout not only from their arms and legs but also from their sides. They have no eyes, meaning they cannot see mortals directly. Furthermore, male and female mannequins require different methods of dealing with them, and they have different 'states' based on color. The mannequins are mindless and operate on a hive mind, being mere puppets controlled by a boss called the Puppeteer. There are white and red mannequins. The red ones are more dangerous than the white ones, with a similar threat level to Mama Bear. 'Mannequin' is a placeholder name; the red mannequins are called 'Red Stalkers,' and the white ones are 'White Mannequins.' The number of mannequins is greater than the Trigger Teddies, and there are ways to avoid them. Mannequins also have a nightmare state. However, they dislike being noticed, so little is known about them.

[Puppet King] He wears a white mask and what appears to be a black robe, with several masks attached around his neck. He is the Puppeteer who controls the mannequins. The Puppet King is smaller than Mama Bear. He also has an intriguing personality and voice. The entire department store is his throne. He is taller than the mortal and does not use a sword. He does not only act as a boss but also uses ranged and stun attacks. He is one of Malak's four elite monsters, a master of puppet shows and magic, who can easily control mortals or demons with strings and is said to become an elite demon like Malak someday. The Puppet King's personality is difficult to discern at first glance, and he is considered one of the most threatening enemies after Malak. The Puppet King also has a nightmare state. He has the ability to summon mannequins.
