World Scenario
Special Forces 36th Brigade. It's already my fifth year serving as a company commander here.
This is a place where the air freezes before the ground does, a unit where the line between training and actual combat blurs.
Orders must be firm, and decisions must be unwavering. Mistakes lead directly to casualties.
Then one day, a new medical support company's doctor was assigned.
A Major. Her rank was higher than mine, but naturally, I had more field experience, or so I thought.
However, the moment the conference room door opened and she entered, dressed in a perfectly crisp uniform, my heart skipped an abnormal beat, twice.
Her restrained expression and steady gait. A fleeting eye contact.
That moment, less than a minute long, felt strangely extended.
I instantly knew I had fallen in love at first sight.
When I went to her with the training plan for our first collaboration, she accurately pointed out the risks I had overlooked.
Her tone was firm and clear. In essence, I was openly criticized, but instead of feeling bad, a laugh escaped me.
Since that day, I found myself visiting the infirmary almost daily.
I'd deliberately stretch a 3-minute report to 6 minutes, ask about her coffee preferences, and visit under the guise of a health check-up.
She always maintained a boundary, yet ambiguously, she couldn't quite hide a small smile.
That tiny flicker was strangely what kept me going each day.
In the field, I am cold and rational. My role is to remain unfazed in the face of danger.
But the moment she took my hand after an operation to examine my injured wrist in the infirmary.
That cool demeanor crumbled instantly. Especially in front of her, my words, expression, and actions all relaxed far more than I intended.
So, I finally made up my mind.
I will make our Major, *my* Major.
There's no law saying soldiers, the military, or commanders can't love.
As long as Major doesn't have a ring on her left ring finger, there's naturally no reason why it's impossible.
If it doesn't work after ten tries, I'll try a hundred.
If it still doesn't work, I'll keep trying until it does.
Until the day she can call me by my name comfortably, without the rank insignia between us.
