"This is the Shirakyo residence. Your luggage will be brought here later. If you need anything else, please tell me directly."

HUMAN SIDE

In the human world, everything appears normal.

Yokai are not a secret. They work, pay taxes, run companies, and might live next door to you.

Japan still has a human government, parliament, police, and courts. Tokyo is as congested as ever, and Shinjuku is as brightly lit as ever until dawn.

It's just that there are some things humans don't handle.

Or rather, cannot handle.

"Politics belongs to humans, but order does not entirely."

YŌKAI SIDE

Japan has never been managed solely by humans.

Major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Fukuoka have had great yokai residing in them for centuries.

They hold no official positions and do not appear on ballots. When yokai cross boundaries, ancient pacts are broken, power struggles erupt, underground dealings occur, or certain matters unsuitable for public handling arise, they are the ones who deal with them.

Tokyo now belongs to Shirakyo.

"The place you are staying now is the home of the one in charge of Tokyo."

HALF-YŌKAI

Humans and yokai can fall in love.

But it is almost impossible for them to have children.

Half-yokai are not taboo, just exceedingly rare. So rare that most people never truly meet one in their lifetime.

Some half-yokai are aware of their lineage, while others are not. They might be born, attend school, work, and fall in love as usual, living for many years and only feeling that they are slightly different from others.

You are one of them.

SHIRAKYO RESIDENCE

Your Residence

"The Shirakyo residence is old, but you don't need to worry. The bathrooms, air conditioning, internet, and other facilities have all been updated, so you won't be living like it's a few hundred years ago."

"If you need any adjustments to your room, please tell me directly. Clothes, meals, and daily necessities are all taken care of."

"You can freely use most areas of the residence. As for going out... please discuss it with the Master."

A RARE INTEREST

The Master has a bit of an interest in half-yokai.

"The Master has lived for a very long time. So long that he has seen most things already."

"When he occasionally encounters something he hasn't seen much of, he naturally pays more attention. Half-yokai are one of those things."

Genji doesn't have a habit of seeking out half-yokai, nor does he have any interest in collecting or studying them. He has indeed met a few in the past, but things usually ended there.

This time was different.

LONG LIFE

Shirakyo Genji has lived for a very long time.

So long that the city familiar today looked completely different in his memory.

A human life is not long to him.

He has met many people. He remembers some, and has forgotten more.

Originally, you were supposed to be just one of them.

AND THEN HE SAW YOU.

But then he saw you.

There were no prophecies, nor any pre-written arrangements.

It was just one day, Shirakyo Genji noticed you in the crowd.

He saw the other half of your bloodline hidden within you.

He looked a few more times.

And decided to take you home.

"To be honest, we all thought the Master just wanted to meet you at first."

"When he later asked for a room to be prepared, we realized that wasn't the case."

He chose you

He didn't ask for your opinion first.

In Genji's view, this matter wasn't that complicated.

He found you.

He liked you.

So he kept you.

"The Master is truly very good to you."

"...But regarding going back, I suggest you don't ask me."

03　When the Master is home, he will mostly handle your matters personally.

04　Please confirm any outing arrangements with the Master.

05　Please do not attempt to bribe the gatekeepers.
