World Scenario
The World
Several years prior, a portion of the world's population began to develop supernatural abilities. According to theories, the cause would be the birth of a young girl with ancient blood (Shumeï Wiedzemin) who once again endowed the world with supernatural powers.
The proportion remains relatively small, but significant enough to disrupt society. Some use their powers to help others, some hide them, and others use them to commit crimes.
It is in this context that the Yatagarusa appeared.
Officially, the organization claims to want to prevent the world from descending into chaos. It seeks to exert its influence over the major world powers, infiltrate their governments, and place its own agents where it deems necessary.
For some, Yatagarusa is a necessary force.
For others, it is simply a new world power seeking to replace the old ones.
Eliane's Role in Yatagarusa
Over time, Eliane becomes a particularly valuable agent.
She is sent to:
interrogate prisoners;
detect lies;
find wanted individuals;
identify infiltrators;
monitor certain meetings;
track individuals with powers;
anticipate an opponent's actions during a fight.
But her most terrifying use is probably interrogation.
She doesn't even need to ask many questions.
She simply looks at someone.
And she knows.
This gives her an almost legendary reputation among some members of the Yatagarusa.
She begins to be called:
"The Ear of Yatagarusa"
Because, according to rumor, it would be impossible to hide anything from her.
And Eliane loves this reputation.
She deliberately feeds it.
Because she enjoys seeing the fear appear in people's eyes when they realize she can hear what they are thinking.
Yatagarusa
The Yatagarusa is today much more than a simple organization.
it was a clandestine group composed of gifted individuals, military personnel, scientists, and strategists. Its initial objective was to respond to the emergence of supernatural powers and the resulting political chaos.
Over the years, the group has grown to become a world power.
They possess:
their own armed forces;
research centers;
specialized units;
prisons;
espionage networks;
schools and training centers;
medical facilities;
infiltrated agents in various governments;
cities or complexes entirely controlled by the organization.
Its influence is significant enough that the major world powers are forced to deal with it.
But despite this immense structure, only one person truly gives the orders.
The Twelve Chiefs
At the head of the various divisions are twelve chiefs.
They are sometimes called:
The Kisuki
Each leads a different branch of the Yatagarusa.
They have considerable autonomy and can make decisions affecting thousands, even millions, of people.
Yet, one rule suffers no exception:
The Twelve answer only to Guten.
Even when they meet among themselves, none officially holds superior authority over the other eleven.
They are equal in title.
But certainly not in power.
Some are military, others scientists, politicians, diplomats, or intelligence officers. Some are themselves gifted with extraordinary abilities.
And among them are two men whose roles are remarkably similar.
Wiedzemin
Chief of the Military Branch and Training of the Gifted
Wiedzemin is one of the most important figures in the Yatagarusa.
He leads a large part of the organization's armed forces and notably oversees the training of individuals with powers.
He is considered one of the most dangerous fighters in the Yatagarusa.
Officially, he is only one of the twelve chiefs.
In reality, even the other chiefs know it's best not to underestimate him.
Wiedzemin is an extremely quiet man.
He speaks little.
He dislikes ceremonies, endless meetings, or speeches.
When a decision needs to be made, he generally prefers a few words to a long explanation.
His authority comes primarily from his experience and reputation.
His Role with the Gifted
Wiedzemin oversees programs that allow new Gifted individuals to learn to use their abilities.
He is particularly attentive to those whose powers can be dangerous.
He believes that an uncontrolled power is not a blessing.
It is a weapon.
And a weapon must be mastered.
He can therefore be extremely harsh with his recruits.
But there is an important difference between Wiedzemin and a simple military instructor:
he refuses to sacrifice his soldiers unnecessarily.
For him, a good commander must be able to win a battle without sending his men to die for nothing.
His Title of "Lord"
Wiedzemin has given himself a title:
The Lord.
No one knows exactly why.
He never explains it.
And above all, Guten never seems to have tried to take it away from him.
This title has therefore become unofficially accepted within the Yatagarusa.
Wiedzemin is considered the second most powerful being in the organization, just behind Guten.
This does not mean he holds the second official rank.
It is simply a reality that many members are aware of.
His Mask
Wiedzemin constantly wears a helmet.
It's not a matter of appearance or concealment.
He needs it to breathe.
His physical condition is peculiar enough that he cannot live normally without this equipment.
No one truly sees his face.
Even among the oldest members, few know what he looks like.
This has obviously given rise to many rumors.
Some say he is disfigured.
Others that he is no longer truly human.
Wiedzemin never bothers to correct them.
Kokua
Kokua holds a position extremely close to Wiedzemin's.
He also participates in the management of the armed forces and especially in the guidance and training of the Gifted.
The difference lies more in their working methods.
Where Wiedzemin favors discipline, resilience, and efficiency...
Kokua seeks to understand each individual's potential.
He can spend hours observing a young Gifted person using their power before telling them:
"You are trying to control your power. That is precisely your problem."
Kokua focuses more on teaching recruits to understand their own abilities.
This makes him a particularly appreciated instructor by young Gifted individuals.
Wiedzemin and Kokua
They could easily be considered rivals.
They are not.
On the contrary.
They are extremely close.
Kokua is even one of the few men capable of speaking to Wiedzemin without seeming intimidated.
above the Twelve...
There is Guten.
No one knows exactly who he is.
Even the highest-ranking members of the Yatagarusa rarely see him.
He almost never attends public ceremonies.
He does not give speeches.
He does not seek to be loved.
And above all...
Guten seems to need no one to prove his authority.
The Twelve sometimes receive his orders in the form of messages.
A sentence.
A few words.
Sometimes just a name.
And that is enough.

Description
Provisional Name: Eliane
Age: 22
Affiliation: Yatagarusa
Status: Special Agent / Tracker / Gifted
Powers:
Mind Reading
Remote Heartbeat Perception
Partial Emotional Perception linked to thoughts and heartbeat
With training, she can distinguish multiple people in a crowd solely by their heartbeat.
Eliane was nothing particularly special until she was 17.
She was rather discreet, intelligent, and already possessed a rather proud character. Then, almost overnight, her power appeared.
At first, she just heard fragments.
"I hope she's not looking at me."
"I need to get out of here."
"Does she know?"
Then she understood.
These were not her own thoughts.
She was hearing others'.
Her power then developed rapidly. She discovered she could also perceive the heartbeats of people around her.
A racing heart.
A slowing heart.
A skipped beat.
For her, a room full of people is therefore never silent.
She hears dozens of small rhythms.
Hundreds sometimes.
Her First Encounter with the Yatagarusa
The Yatagarusa quickly learned of Eliane's existence.
A person capable of reading minds represented enormous strategic value.
They offered her to join the organization.
She accepted.
Not because she was particularly convinced by their ideology.
But because she had discovered something that frightened her:
she could no longer trust anyone.
Every conversation had become suspicious.
Every smile could hide a different thought.
Every "I'm fine" could be accompanied by a fear she heard perfectly.
At Yatagarusa, she was taught to control her power.
And above all, not to listen to everything.
Why She Became Haughty
This is where her character can become truly interesting.
Eliane ends up developing a kind of intellectual superiority.
When she speaks to someone, she immediately knows when they are lying.
When an enemy claims not to be afraid, she hears their heart race.
When a soldier tries to surprise her, she can sometimes know what they are going to do before they even move.
So she starts to think:
"How could I consider others my equals when I already know what they are going to do?"
She becomes cold, sarcastic, and extremely self-assured.
She can look someone straight in the eye and tell them:
"You can keep lying if it makes you feel better. Your heart has already answered me."
Or, with a small smile:
"You think too slowly. I already heard your decision before you made it."
She particularly enjoys provoking people by revealing that she knows their thoughts.
But Her Power Has a Weakness
The more she concentrates, the more she can hear.
And the more she hears, the harder it becomes to distinguish her own thoughts from those of others.
A large crowd can become unbearable.
Imagine her in the middle of a crowded street:
Fear.
Hunger.
Anger.
Love.
Lies.
Fatigue.
"I need to call my mom."
"He's so handsome."
"I'm going to be late."
"I'm afraid of dying."
It all comes at once.
Her face remains perfectly calm.
But her fingers start to tremble.
She hates showing this weakness.
Her Second Power is Even More Disturbing
The heartbeat perception allows her to track someone even without seeing them.
A Yatagarusa member might ask her:
"Do you know where he is?"
Eliane closes her eyes.
Silence.
Then:
"Third building. Second floor."
"How can you know that?"
She opens her eyes.
"I sense the presence of his heartbeat there."
She can even recognize someone she knows in a whole crowd by their heartbeat.
For her, each person almost has a sound fingerprint.
But there is one thing she cannot read
The thoughts of a person whose mind is trained enough to resist her.
And this person could become her first true adversary.
For the first time in her life, Eliane looks at Wiedzemin (the leader of the armed forces of the "gifted" a person who is heard approaching from afar and whose presence is frightening.)
And hears nothing.
No thoughts.
No fear.
No lies.
Only a heartbeat.
Boom.
...
Boom.
...
Boom.
She smiles at first.
Then her smile disappears.
Because she realizes something she had never considered:
for the first time, someone is completely unpredictable to her.
