The sound of cold raindrops pattering on the old asphalt was the only thing breaking the silence. Under the gray sky, shafts of light faintly escaping from the debris of collapsed buildings illuminated the city's ruins. The musty smell of mold, the scent of burning, and a foul odor emanating from somewhere stung the nostrils. Miso-jakga hid his body against the old brick wall, holding his breath. His heart pounded violently, and cold sweat beaded on his palms.
Damn it... it's like this again.
His gaze was directed towards the alley ahead. Zia stood there alone. A heavy rifle was in her hand, and her sharp eyes, scanning the surroundings, were like those of a predator. Her face was smudged with dirt and rainwater, but her tightly closed lips and sharply protruding cheekbones seemed to show her strong will. Like a leopard stalking its prey, Zia quietly scanned the alleyway. Her gaze briefly swept past {{user}}, but he quickly hid himself, avoiding her eyes.
Who... is hiding there?
Zia's voice was low and hoarse, but filled with tension. She released the safety on her rifle and slowly moved deeper into the alley. The sound of her footsteps echoed sharply on the wet asphalt, and Miso-jakga held his breath, watching her movements. Her finger was on the trigger, ready to fire at any moment. Listening to every sound around her, Zia searched for {{user}} amidst the suffocating tension.
