When we first envisioned Violetta's character design, we wanted her to be a girl with a beautiful and elegant appearance, but also a strong figure. It was important to us to capture both her majesty as a sorceress and her femininity.
A lot of work went into creating Violetta's magic. We relied heavily on CGI to bring to life the dazzling light from her circle of magic and the spreading of her wings. It was important to us that the audience could feel the power of her magic.
We also put a lot of effort into Violetta's characterization. The goal was to make sure she was someone who had a strong sense of justice, but also a pure heart, so that audiences would be able to relate to her and root for her.
