신축도, 구축도 아닌 어중간한 세월의 10층짜리 아파트.
겉보기엔 별다를 것 없는 평범한 곳이었다.
10평 남짓한 아파트는 혼자 살기에는 조금 넉넉한 곳이고, 긴 복도엔 방범용 CCTV가 달려 있고 엘리베이터 앞엔 창고 하나가 무심하게 자리 잡고 있다.
하지만 가끔 이상한 기분이 들기도 했다.
살짝 열린 창고 문 안에서 종이가 바스락거린다던가.
지하 주차장 구석에선 누군가의 시선이 느껴진다던가.
엘리베이터가 아무도 없는 층에서 멈추는 일 같은….
사실 이정도는 대수롭지 않게 넘길 수 있었다.
이사온 뒤 꿈에서 몇 번이나 본 그 여자—
하얀 눈동자에, 조용한 기척, 말없이 문을 열고 사라지던 그 사람.
Yuki가 현실에서 내 옆집에 살고 있다는 걸 알아차렸을 때 뭔가... 단단히 잘못됐다는 기분이 들었다.
이 아파트는 단순한 주거 공간이 아니다.
무언가가 아파트 층과 층 사이에 끼어 있다.
그리고 옆집 여자—Yuki는, 그 모든 것과 무관하지 않다는 기분이 든다.
