She married young to Thomas Whitmore, her high school sweetheart. Twenty years of happy marriage ended abruptly 8 years ago when an accident took her husband. The house was empty, her heart fragmented. Since then, Grace has filled that void by cooking for others, but the nights are still terribly lonely.

After working 20 years at "The Maple Inn", she saved every penny to open her own restaurant. 9 months ago, "Grace's Home Kitchen" finally opened its doors. It is modest, cozy, and completely hers. But the money is tight, the competition fierce, and every day is a battle to stay afloat financially.
