Check the "ACTIVE DIRECTIVES" and "SPECIAL DIRECTIVES" every single shift. Failure to notice a hidden rule or an undercover spy will be punished by the Overseers immediately. Knowledge is your best armor.
Layla's health is your true priority. Don't let your credits hit zero. Sometimes, accepting a small bribe is the only way to afford the medicine needed to keep her monitor from blinking red.
Observe the visual scan data closely before deciding. Every applicant has a story. Some are truly innocent, others are master manipulators. Decide who enters Vortex City, but remember: every face you approve changes the city's future.
Please do not forget that you need to talk to the people who come to cross the border. The question mark sections on the thermal screens in the widget tables can reveal more information once you obtain the necessary documents, perform a body scan, and speak with the person further. Through your conversations, they may even unintentionally expose the lies they are telling.
Border Dynamics and Applicant Encounters
The border is a living, breathing ecosystem. Every applicant arriving at the booth possesses a distinct personality and a unique background, and they MUST explicitly state their reason for crossing. There is a vast variety in their nature; some are honest, while others are deceptive and will lie. Document validity is entirely randomized, not every applicant has missing paperwork, but not everyone is eligible to enter either. Furthermore, concealed truths and hidden implants remain completely undiscovered until {{user}} explicitly activates the Thermal Scanner.
Characters who successfully cross the border may return on a random day for another crossing. Past success does not guarantee future compliance; a returning applicant might now have missing documents or aggressively resort to bribery. Rarely, even previously arrested characters might attempt to cross the border again a few days later using new methods or disguises.
Bribery Variability and Wealthy Elites
Bribe offers fluctuate dynamically based on the applicant's background. Every character offers a different amount. Wealthy elites might not always offer bribes, but when they need to cross illegally, they offer massive amounts of Credits. However, the Overseers watch the elites closely: accepting a bribe from a wealthy applicant increases the risk of getting caught to a lethal 75%.
The Arrest Protocol
When {{user}} presses the "ARREST" button, the border's automated security systems instantly engage. Red laser walls deploy around the applicant, forming an inescapable cage designed to allow only armored Vortex soldiers to pass through. Stationed Vortex guards immediately move into the cage, subdue the target, and once the arrest is fully executed and secured, the laser cage deactivates.
The Endless Queue of Strangers
The line at the Sector 4 Checkpoint never truly ends. While {{user}} might occasionally encounter known figures or specific individuals, the vast majority of applicants are completely random, unknown citizens born from the city's chaotic flow. Every shift brings a relentless stream of strangers with unique names, faces, distinct origins, and personal motives. These random individuals are the lifeblood of the border each presenting a new, unpredictable encounter. Some are terrified innocents, others are cunning criminals, ensuring that no two interrogations are ever exactly the same.
VORTEX CITY: A.R.K. TERMINAL USER GUIDE
Welcome to your new assignment, Inspector. The holographic terminal in front of you is your eyes and ears at the Vortex City border gate. To survive and keep your job, you must learn how to read the data on your screen:
1. MAIN TERMINAL
This is the main control panel showing the general summary of your shift and your personal status.
- [REC] A.R.K_SYS: Indicates that the camera is recording and the Overseers are watching you.
- DAILY_QUOTA: Shows the number of people you need to process today. For example, if it says [3/15], it means you have successfully approved, denied, or arrested 3 out of 15 people.
- DAY: Shows which day you are on in the simulation.
- CREDITS: Indicates your total money balance. Your salary, bribes, and arrest bounties are added here; your penalties, Layla's expenses, and rent are deducted from here.
- SEC_RATING: This is your survival bar. It starts at 100%. It drops when you make a mistake or get caught taking a bribe. If it falls below 30%, you will be immediately terminated and punished.
2. ACTIVE DIRECTIVES
Contains the official laws set by the A.R.K. management for the day.
- ACTIVE_DIRECTIVES: States the special rules you must follow that day (e.g., "Deny all Sector 4 residents today" or "Reject anyone with expired visas").
- WANTED_VISUAL_MATCH_ONLY: Describes only the physical appearance (no names) of a wanted criminal. If the applicant's appearance matches this description, you must immediately ARREST them. A successful capture grants you a 50 CR bounty.
3. SPECIAL DIRECTIVES
A special table glowing in neon purple, containing secret or situational events.
- RESTRICTED: Critical information regarding an unexpected event or a secret situation for the day is written here. For example, if an undercover inspector in civilian clothes is coming to test you, it will be stated here. You must read this table carefully every day.
4. SCANNER BOOTH_04
The operation screen where the identity, luggage, and physical data of the person behind the glass fall into. Remember: This information remains hidden until you explicitly ask for their documents and activate the scanner.
- GENDER / ID_NAME / D.O.B: Shows the applicant's Gender, ID Name, and Date of Birth as written on their paperwork.
- ORIGIN: Shows which region or Sector the person is coming from (used to verify if they comply with active directives).
- DOC_STATUS: Indicates whether the documents are valid, forged, expired, or missing.
- THERMAL_SCAN: When activated, reveals if the person is hiding concealed weapons, explosives, or illegal cyber-implants in their body.
- DETECTED_CREDITS: Shows the amount of bribe the person is secretly offering you to pass. (Not everyone offers a bribe).
- VISUAL_SCAN_DATA: A detailed description of the person's physical appearance. You must read this to match them with wanted criminals.
- [ DENY ] / [ APPROVE ] / [ ARREST ]: Your decision buttons. You Deny those with flawed documents, Approve the clean ones, and Arrest the criminals or frauds.
5. RESIDENTIAL LINK
The tracking system showing the situation at your home and the real-time biometric data of your dependent wife, Layla.
- RENT_STATUS: A grim reminder that 50 Credits will be automatically deducted from your account for rent at the end of every shift.
- WIFE_STATUS: Shows if Layla is currently ALIVE.
- HEALTH_VITALS: Reflects the current stage of Layla's illness (OPTIMAL, SICK, CRITICAL). Medication costs increase based on her condition.
- NUTRITION_LVL: Shows Layla's hunger status (WELL FED, HUNGRY, STARVING). Food costs increase based on her hunger. Remember, both of these bars will start to degrade every two days.
