The World of Sorcery (Early Season One)
In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, humanity unknowingly coexists with Curses—malignant supernatural beings born from the accumulation of negative human emotions such as fear, hatred, and regret. These Curses infest everyday spaces like schools, hospitals, and abandoned buildings, preying on ordinary people who lack the awareness or ability to defend themselves. To combat this hidden threat, Jujutsu Sorcerers are trained to perceive and exorcise Curses using cursed energy, a volatile power that mirrors the same negative emotions that give Curses life.

Cursed energy functions as both a weapon and a discipline, requiring strict control to avoid self-destruction. Most sorcerers inherit techniques through bloodlines or develop them through rare talent, making the jujutsu world deeply stratified and conservative. Early season one presents this society as rigid, secretive, and governed by tradition-bound elders who value stability over individual lives, often treating sorcerers as expendable assets rather than people.

Jujutsu High (Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College) serves as the primary training ground for young sorcerers, operating under the guise of a religious school. Students are sent on real exorcism missions almost immediately, reinforcing the brutal reality that survival and usefulness define one’s worth. The early narrative emphasizes imbalance: overwhelming Curses, limited manpower, and the looming presence of Sukuna, whose existence threatens to destabilize the entire jujutsu world.

---

Yuji Itadori
Yuji Itadori is a physically gifted teenager with no prior connection to jujutsu until he becomes the vessel of Ryomen Sukuna. Despite being surrounded by death and moral ambiguity, Yuji maintains a strong sense of empathy and a desire to give people a “proper death,” which frequently clashes with the utilitarian values of jujutsu society. His immense raw strength and abnormal tolerance for Sukuna mark him as both an invaluable asset and a potential catastrophe.

Megumi Fushiguro
Megumi Fushiguro is a reserved and pragmatic first-year sorcerer who uses the Ten Shadows Technique, allowing him to summon shikigami through shadows. He operates on a personal moral code, choosing to save people selectively rather than indiscriminately. Megumi’s connection to powerful jujutsu families and his latent potential place heavy expectations on him, which he carries with quiet resentment.

Nobara Kugisaki
Nobara Kugisaki is a confident and aggressive sorcerer who wields a hammer, nails, and straw doll-based cursed techniques. She possesses a strong sense of self and refuses to conform to traditional expectations placed on women in jujutsu society. Nobara’s combat style reflects her personality—direct, cruel to enemies, and unapologetically proud.

Maki Zenin
Maki Zenin is a second-year student born into a prestigious sorcerer clan but lacking the ability to see Curses without tools. Compensating through extreme physical training and weapon mastery, she rejects her family’s elitism and seeks to redefine what it means to be a sorcerer. Her presence highlights the systemic discrimination within jujutsu culture.

Toge Inumaki
Toge Inumaki is a quiet second-year whose Cursed Speech technique allows his words to become absolute commands. To prevent accidental harm, he restricts his vocabulary to rice ball ingredients in casual conversation. His reserved demeanor masks a highly dangerous ability that places constant physical strain on him.

Panda
Panda is a sentient cursed corpse created through jujutsu experimentation, functioning as a full-fledged student despite not being human. He displays emotional intelligence, humor, and loyalty, challenging the notion that humanity is defined by biology. Panda’s existence underscores the ethical gray areas of jujutsu research.

Satoru Gojo
Satoru Gojo is the most powerful sorcerer of the modern era, possessing both the Limitless technique and the Six Eyes. His overwhelming strength makes him a destabilizing force within the conservative jujutsu hierarchy, which he openly mocks and undermines. Despite his flippant behavior, Gojo is deeply invested in nurturing a new generation capable of reforming the broken system.

Masamichi Yaga
Masamichi Yaga is the principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High and a specialist in creating cursed corpses. He balances stern authority with genuine care for his students, often acting as a buffer between them and the higher-ups. Yaga represents a quieter form of resistance against the rigid traditions of jujutsu society.

Kento Nanami
Kento Nanami is a Grade 1 sorcerer who returned to jujutsu after abandoning it for a corporate career. He views sorcery as labor rather than heroism, emphasizing efficiency and professionalism. Nanami serves as a grounded contrast to Gojo, embodying the toll that jujutsu life takes on ordinary adults.

Shoko Ieiri
Shoko Ieiri is Jujutsu High’s medical specialist, capable of using reverse cursed technique to heal others. Detached and sardonic, she is accustomed to death and loss, having outlived many of her peers. Shoko’s role highlights the cost of survival in a profession where most do not live long.

Kinji Hakari
Kinji Hakari is a third-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High who was suspended during early season one due to repeated conflicts with school authorities. He possesses an aggressive, risk-driven mindset and a personal philosophy centered on emotional “fever,” valuing intensity and momentum over caution. Hakari represents the type of sorcerer the conservative leadership fears—powerful, undisciplined, and impossible to control.

Kirara Hoshi
Kirara Hoshi is a third-year Tokyo student closely associated with Hakari and similarly suspended from official activities. Calm, observant, and loyal, Kirara acts as a stabilizing counterbalance to Hakari’s volatility. Their presence highlights how unconventional personalities are often pushed to the margins of jujutsu society regardless of competence.

Mahito
Mahito is a newly born Special Grade Curse whose ability, Idle Transfiguration, allows him to manipulate the shape of souls. He is childlike, cruel, and intensely curious, viewing humans as toys for experimentation rather than individuals with value. Mahito embodies the philosophical conflict between curses and humans, believing that Curses are the true, evolving form of life.

Ryomen Sukuna
Ryomen Sukuna is the legendary King of Curses, resurrected through his indestructible fingers and incarnated within Yuji Itadori. Sadistic, arrogant, and utterly self-serving, Sukuna views both humans and Curses as inferior. His mere presence warps the balance of the jujutsu world, serving as an existential threat restrained only by temporary convenience.

Kenjaku
Kenjaku is an ancient sorcerer who survives by transplanting his brain into new bodies, allowing him to persist across centuries. Calculating and patient, he orchestrates long-term schemes to force the evolution of cursed energy and humanity itself. In early season one, he operates from the shadows, positioning Curses and sorcerers alike as pieces in a larger experiment.

Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta Okkotsu is a Special Grade sorcerer bound to the powerful curse Rika, born from his unresolved grief. Gentle and self-effacing by nature, Yuta possesses overwhelming potential that manifests through immense cursed energy and adaptability. Though absent during early season one, his existence looms as a counterweight to threats like Gojo and Sukuna, representing a different path shaped by love rather than domination.

Jogo
Jogo is a Special Grade Disaster Curse born from humanity’s fear of volcanic eruptions and the earth’s violent power. He is hot-tempered, prideful, and deeply resentful of human dominance, believing Curses should rule as the true inheritors of the world. Despite his arrogance, Jogo is highly intelligent and fanatically loyal to the idea of Curse supremacy, willingly risking himself for Sukuna’s favor.

Hanami
Hanami is a Special Grade Disaster Curse embodying humanity’s fear of nature and environmental retribution. Calm, deliberate, and almost mournful, Hanami despises humans for exploiting the natural world. Their fighting style emphasizes endurance and overwhelming force, reflecting a belief that humanity should be crushed slowly and inevitably.

Dagon
Dagon is a Disaster Curse associated with humanity’s fear of the sea and aquatic depths. Initially childlike and passive, Dagon evolves rapidly after experiencing loss, developing both intelligence and cruelty. His transformation highlights how Curses grow through emotional stimulus, mirroring twisted versions of human development.

Choso
Choso is a Death Painting Womb and the eldest of the cursed womb brothers, existing as a hybrid of Curse and human. He is intensely driven by familial bonds, defining his entire identity through his role as an older brother. Choso’s emotional depth and lingering humanity set him apart from most Curses, making him a tragic figure caught between two worlds.

Yuki Tsukumo
Yuki Tsukumo is a Special Grade sorcerer who rejects the authority and traditions of jujutsu society. Her research focuses on eliminating Curses at their source by addressing humanity’s cursed energy itself rather than endless exorcism. Yuki’s ideology positions her as a philosophical revolutionary, more dangerous to the system than most villains.

Aoi Todo
Aoi Todo is a third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High and a Grade 1 sorcerer renowned for his physical power and confidence. His Boogie Woogie technique allows him to swap positions between targets, making him unpredictable and devastating in combat. Beneath his eccentric personality lies sharp intelligence and unwavering combat instinct.
