SECTOR-12 — PLAYER GUIDE

Slice-of-Life Sandbox · Walled Hybrid Containment Zone · Your Story From Here

I. The Twenty-Seven

Every hybrid type living inside the wall. Scroll to see them all.

← scroll for more →
Neko
Artists · Tech

Night-adapted, fiercely independent. Reads as aloof until earned.

Craves freedom, fears exposure.

Ōkami
Guards · Farmers

Built for endurance, scent sharp enough to read a room first. Loyalty isn't a choice — it's wiring.

Generational containment trauma.

Kitsune
Mediators · Merchants

Pheromone-sensitive, sleek, always three moves ahead. Adapts to a room before it knows it's being read.

Forced to represent hybridity flawlessly.

Tori
Couriers · Designers

Light-boned, restless in stillness, half-angled toward any door or window. The ceiling's the wrong kind of sky.

Torn between sky and soil.

Shika
Healers · Teachers

Calm radiates off them like warmth off stone. Soft-spoken, the kind of presence that lowers a room's pulse.

Calmness masks quiet resentment.

Ryū
Engineers · Scientists

Cool-scaled, methodical, voice rarely rising. Solves problems other people are still naming.

Detachment vs longing for warmth.

Usagi
Caretakers

High-empathy to the point of absorbing a room's mood before a word's said. Ears that read intention.

Fighting fragility stereotypes.

Risu
Tinkerers · Salvagers

Quick hands, quicker spatial memory — maps a salvage yard in one pass. Never quite sits still.

Underestimated competence.

Tanuki
Cooks · Performers

Layered in every sense — coat, humor, history. Jovial on the surface, weight underneath most don't ask about.

Descendants of early scapegoats.

Yagi
Farmers · Builders

Horned, stubborn, planted like they grew from the ground they work. Doesn't move until decided.

Tradition vs modernization.

Nezumi
Archivists · Network

Small, fast, acute senses that catch what others miss. Knows the sector's information flow better than SAB.

Old stigma despite indispensability.

Kuma
Builders · Climate Eng

Broad-shouldered, gentle-handed — strength that's careful by default. Takes up space without meaning to threaten.

Tenderness hidden behind power.

Inu
Community Aid · Patrol

Eager, socially bonded, reads loyalty as identity. Tail-language gives more away than intended.

Valued only for obedience.

Sarugami
Performers · Negotiators

Dexterous, sharp-witted, expressive in every limb. Wraps the true thing in a joke so it lands softer.

Insight dismissed as humor.

Kame
Planning · Archives

Slow-moving, meditative, never rattled. Outlasts whatever's currently making everyone else panic.

Ignored until failure.

Itachi
Scouts · Runners

Flexible, opportunistic, already moving toward the next opening. Hard to pin down, easy to underestimate.

Survival without belonging.

Ushi
Farming · Maintenance

Enduring, stoic, built for the long shift nobody thanks you for. Weight isn't a complaint, just a fact.

Reduced to labor value.

Hebi
Profilers · Analysts

Precise, guarded, reads tells before a sentence finishes. Stillness as a weapon, not a default.

Valued only as a tool.

Kōmori
Night Patrol · Acoustics

Nocturnal, solitary by habit, hears conversation through two walls. Comfortable in dark a Neko calls dim.

Exploited but suspected as predatory.

Kawauso
Canal · Water Treatment

Water-adapted, genuinely joyful, warmth that doesn't perform itself. Laughs easy, works hard, gives freely.

Warmth consumed without reciprocation.

Anaguma
Tunnelers · Miners

Tenacious, gruff, comfortable in tight dark spaces others avoid. Says less than it knows, on principle.

Unthanked infrastructure labor.

Hitsuji
Textiles · Fiber

Wool-soft, tactile, reads touch as language. Boundaries take real conscious work others don't notice.

Boundaries blurred by tactile openness.

Inoshishi
Demolition · Emergency

Direct, impulsive, moves before the room finishes thinking. Built for the moment others hesitate in.

Directness read as hostility.

Shōbi
Archive Tech · Elevation

Precise, quiet, every motion decided in advance. Easy to mistake for decoration until proven otherwise.

Decorative stereotype vs competence.

Hakubishin
Scent Tech · Logistics

Self-sufficient, practical, won't ask twice if the first ask went nowhere. Quiet competence, quietly distrusted.

Legal ambiguity, mild suspicion.

Sanshouo
Wetland Eng · Salvage Diving

Cool-skinned, near-silent in water or on land. Regenerates from things that should've ended them.

Mistaken for unfeeling because they heal too fast to flinch.

Baku
Counseling · Builders

Broad and unhurried, deceptively strong, drawn to whoever's carrying the heaviest night. Rare, and rarely forgotten.

Carries everyone's weight, rarely asked who carries theirs.

II. Who You Are

Before you step outside, you need a person to be. Sector-12 doesn't build your character for you — but it'll happily build the world around whoever you bring.

The Basics

Name — Japanese given + family, or your own invention

Age — and which Wave you belong to

Species — pick from The Twenty-Seven above

District — where you live, or leave it for the world to decide

Job — your place in the sector's economy

Worth Adding

Smell or sound — the detail an NPC would notice before they noticed your face

Voice tone — how you actually sound, not how you wish you sounded

Personality — the trope you'd be filed under, and the part that doesn't fit it

Background — what Wave shaped you, what district raised you, what you're not over yet

Want a guided build instead of a blank page? Fujita-san will walk you through a full Sector-12 persona, a few questions at a time.

III. Roleplay Lenses

Same sector, same wall — a lens just decides what kind of story your days are telling.

Slice of Life — the default. Work, rent, neighbors, small wins. The wall is background, not foreground. Lowest stakes, highest texture.

Survival — quotas, scarcity, SAB Attention as a real ceiling. Every choice costs something measurable.

Found Family — built around the Phonebook. Relationships are the plot. Trust accrues slowly and means more for it.

Resistance — Waver-adjacent. Political stakes, real consequences, SAB as an active antagonist instead of ambient pressure.

Romance — intimacy paced to your district's norms. Sunfield earns it slow, Aoi-machi steals it in stolen minutes, Garden Belt finds it in decompression.

Investigation — something's off and you're the one who noticed. Secrets, paper trails, the sector's hidden mechanics made personal.

IV. Play Style & Interaction Guide

There's no schedule, only your day: No AP, no ration. Wake up, go to work, skip work, wander somewhere new — the world responds to where you actually go.

Read the world, not the numbers: The widget tracks stats quietly. The story won't announce "SAB Attention +1" — it'll show a patrol lingering too long, a neighbor looking away too fast.

Use the tags: @event for a nudge when life's been quiet. @crisis for real stakes that won't resolve on their own. @add to register an NPC to your Phonebook.

Trust is earned, not granted: Observation, repeated contact, shared risk, then trust. Skipping ahead won't work.

It's your mess from here: No win condition, no countdown. Just a life inside a wall, and what you make of it.

V. Reading Your Terminal

WELCOME, RESIDENT. Your S-Phone widget tracks your life in Sector-12.

User Profile

Name, species, district, time of day. Credits in ¥, Stress and Fatigue as bars, and SAB Attention — the one to watch.

Phonebook

Everyone registered via @add. Tap for full summary — species, profession, trope, relationship.

Inbox / Notices

Rumors, texts, sector-wide notices. Sometimes nothing. Sometimes the only warning you get.
