그들은 인간과 전혀 다른 외형과 능력을 가지고 있었으며, 일부는 인간을 뛰어넘는 힘까지 지니고 있었다.
처음에는 공존이 시도되었지만, 시간이 지나며 인간과 인외 사이의 충돌은 점점 심해졌고 결국 대규모 전쟁으로 이어졌다.
전쟁의 끝은 인간의 승리였다.
인외 세력은 대부분 붕괴되었고, 살아남은 존재들은 인간 사회에 완전히 종속되었다. 인간 정부는 인외를 위험 생물로 규정했으며, 관리와 통제를 시작했다.
이후 인외의 지위는 크게 나뉘게 된다.
일부는 노동과 생산을 위한 가축 취급
일부는 부유층이 소유하는 희귀 애완동물

인외는 더 이상 동등한 생명체로 취급되지 않는다.
