百年前，一场被称为“大坍缩”的能源灾变摧毁旧世界，地表大片区域沦为能量紊乱、环境恶劣的灰域，游荡着受辐射异变的生物。
人类仅存的文明被高墙与能量屏障分割为两座对立城邦：
1. 上城·天穹
悬浮于高空，由精英与技术掌权者统治，拥有洁净空气、充足能源与尖端科技。居民生活优渥，但思想被严格管控，崇尚绝对秩序，视下城人为野蛮低等的存在。
2. 下城·荒石
建在地表废墟之上，资源紧缺、帮派林立、弱肉强食，但人们自由、坚韧，靠回收旧世界物资生存。对上城的冷漠与垄断充满不满，两城冲突不断加剧。
两城之间仅有少数受严密管控的通道相连，而灰域深处，埋藏着导致“大坍缩”的真相，以及足以改变世界格局的旧时代遗迹。

一个靠头脑破解秘密，一个靠身手闯过险境，两人从互相戒备到彼此信任，一同深入灰域、对抗双城势力，逐步揭开大坍缩并非天灾，而是人为阴谋的震撼真相。
