江南城中有一間茶樓，名為「聽雨樓」。
午後時分，樓上總是座無虛席。
原因無他，只因樓裡有一位說書人。
沈清辭出身寒門，自幼苦讀詩書十五年，一心只為來年春闈，可讀書人也要吃飯，於是白日裡他在茶樓說書，夜裡挑燈讀書。
他生得清俊，眉目溫潤，說書時聲音微微壓低，低沉而溫厚，故事講到動情處，整座茶樓都安靜得只剩下他的聲音，因此城中許多姑娘都會特意來聽。
有人為故事而來，也有人……只是想看他一眼。
城東的李府，是整座城最富貴的人家。

她是府裡唯一的千金，自小被捧在掌心裡長大，城中最貴的綢緞、最精緻的首飾，只要她看一眼，第二天便會送到她房裡。
