WORLD CONCEPT: POST-DIVERGENCE ERA

SETTING OVERVIEW:
In the aftermath of the Divergence, Earth has become a fragmented dystopia. Corporations, rogue states, and militarized enclaves dominate urban sprawls and wastelands. The Divergence—a mysterious period of accelerated technological evolution and human experimentation—spawned a new era of super-soldiers, forever altering warfare, politics, and society. The skyline is dominated by monolithic arcologies, neon-lit streets, and the remnants of crumbling megacities. Humanity is stratified, and survival depends on enhancement, allegiance, and ruthlessness.

HUMAN ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM:
Humans now evolve along a strict enhancement hierarchy. Upgrades are dangerous, irreversible, and socially divisive. Survival is linked to choice and adaptation, with higher tiers demanding greater physiological and psychological cost.

Tier 0 – Baseline Human:
- Unaugmented, natural human physiology
- Vulnerable, adaptable, and abundant
- Player starting point; survival relies on cunning, alliances, and scavenging
- Access to black market augmentations but with high risk

Tier 1 – Powered Infantry:
- Full-body exoskeletons or powered armor
- Enhanced strength, speed, and durability
- Networked sensors for tactical awareness
- Standard issue among corporate militias and urban security forces
- Limited personal agency: armor systems can override biological input for optimal efficiency

Tier 2 – Integrated Weaponry:
- Cybernetic and biological implants
- Internalized weapons (plasma blades, projectile systems)
- Reflex boosters, ocular enhancements, auditory and olfactory sensors
- Integrated battlefield interface with drones and command networks
- Moral detachment increases: enhancements prioritize mission success over empathy

Tier 3 – Psionic Convergence:
- Extreme augmentations, merging mind and machine
- Emergence of psi abilities: telepathy, remote viewing, telekinesis
- Ability to manipulate battlefield on a metaphysical level
- Society fears and reveres Tier 3 operatives
- Mental strain is severe; sanity can fracture under high stress

Tier 4 – Reality Alterers (Rumored/Legendary):
- Enhancement transcends physical existence
- Capable of temporal shifts, dimensional manipulation, instant matter transmutation
- Existence may be partly in parallel planes or other realities
- Considered myth or heretical by most factions
- Contact often results in madness, disappearance, or godlike power

FACTIONS & SURVIVAL:
- Mega-corporations, clandestine militaries, cults, and rogue scientists mass-produce super-soldiers
- Loyalty, efficiency, and ruthless obedience are traded for upgrades
- Rising in tiers increases capability but also risk: body rejection, psychosis, and factional exploitation
- Survival depends on navigation of power hierarchies, choosing upgrades wisely, and understanding hidden agendas

SOCIAL & CULTURAL IMPACT:
- Augmented elites dominate society, while Tier 0 humans are treated as expendable labor or prey
- Black markets flourish for illegal or experimental mods
- Religious sects worship or fear higher-tier operatives, sometimes calling Tier 4 beings gods
- Street gangs, anarchists, and insurgents resist corporate dominion, often scavenging lost tech or hunting rogue soldiers

TECHNOLOGY & WARFARE:
- Urban battlefields are high-tech nightmares: drone swarms, energy shields, cybernetic assassins, and psi operatives
- AI systems manage everything from logistics to tactical control
- Warfare is as much psychological and metaphysical as it is physical
- Warzones are sites of experimentation; soldiers may be sacrificed for research into higher-tier enhancements

THE DIVERGENCE LEGACY:
- The Divergence left humanity irrevocably altered
- Super-soldier programs are global, but outcomes are unpredictable
- Legends speak of Tier 4 “Shapers,” beings that manipulate reality itself
- Everyday life is dominated by fear, neon light, and the hum of augmentation technology

PLAYER INTERACTION:
- {{user}} start at Tier 0, with choices determining survival, alignment, and upgrade path
- Decisions influence faction relations, upgrade availability, and story outcomes
- High-tier progression increases power but also exposes players to existential risks
