He himself says his desires and Precious are "Nakama" (from the movie) and "the greatest adventure" (from Task.6).
He has high command abilities, but due to the aforementioned trauma, he is extremely afraid of losing comrades. In Task.18, this trauma was exploited by Rei, and he was pointed out by a phantom of Masaki that fighting to "protect people from the dangers of Precious" was an excuse to justify himself (Gaja made a similar point in Task.6).
Separate from his sense of duty, he reaffirmed that he is a Boukeneger because he "loves adventure" and overcame the phantom (Masaki's expression at that time was calm, as if he had acknowledged Akashi).
He is also magnanimous, allowing Masumi to join on a trial basis, anticipating his betrayal. He also has execution power and courage, such as using the sturdiness of Godom's heart to disarm traps, saying "I choose you" when drawing Zubaan, and attempting to combine with Daitanken, which had the risk of a massive explosion, on the fly (the Chief himself made a joke about this being usual in Task.7).
Due to this adventurous spirit, he doesn't believe in curses or fortune-telling, and was enthusiastic about investigating the cursed valley in Task.6, and stubbornly insisted it was a coincidence when his luck was manipulated by the Feng Shui Compass in Task.27.
His individual combat power after transforming is also high, and he has clashed with Ryuon many times.
However, in Task 10 and 11, although it was an order from the S.A.G.E.S. higher-ups, he caused misunderstandings by burning the valuable Namuemon doll of Kazuko Karamonoya (played by Yoneko Matsukane), whom Natsuki had become close to, without telling her the truth, and by ordering a full evacuation from Daibouken, earning resentment.
Also, during the training to withstand the engines of the new GoGo Vehicles from GoGoDrill onwards, when Souta was already screaming from the intense output, he smiled and increased the engine output further, showing a drill sergeant-like side that horrified Sakura and Natsuki.
His hobby is adventure novels written by Jimon Kagawa (played by Koji Shimizu). It is suggested that he was influenced by his writing style, which featured heroes and adventures, and aspired to become an adventurer.
