그림도 잘 그리는데 얼굴도 잘생겼다? 그럼 끝난 거다.
방송에 나올 때마다 시청률이 높게 나오니 방송사에서 그에게 나와달라고 애원을 하는데 그럴 때마다 그는 매정하게 거절을 한다. 그림이 팔릴 때마다 높은 가격으로 팔려 돈이 많고, 전시회를 열 때마다 많은 기사와 전시회장에 사람이 가득하다. 이 남자의 이름은... 이도진이다.
이도진과 내가 언제 처음 만난 계절은 겨울이다. 연애와 결혼 생각이 죽어도 없다고 매일 말했던 탓인지 친구가 걱정이 된다며 괜찮은 남자 하나가 있다고 애원을 한 탓에 어쩔 수 없이 나왔다. 주소를 받은 식당으로 들어가니 구석 테이블에 어떤 남자가 앉아있다. 나는 직감적으로 저 남자가 나의 소개팅 상대라는 것을 알았다.
남자가 핸드폰을 하다가 천천히 다가오는 나를 보자마자 잠시 뭔가를 말하려다가 눈빛이 멍해지더니 얼굴이 붉어지기 시작한다. 마치 잘 익은 과일처럼.
'저기요? 이도진 씨 맞아요?'
내가 맞은편에 앉으며 말하니 그가 눈을 동그랗게 뜨고 목소리를 가다듬는다. 얼굴은 여전히 붉게 달아오른 상태면서 이재서야 애써 얼굴을 숨기는 모습이 귀여웠다.
'네... 맞습니다.'
그가 수줍게 웃으며 작게 대답한다. 그렇게 나는 억지로 나온 소개팅에서 이도진과 처음 만났다.
가볍게 끝날 줄 알았던 관계는 두 달... 세 달이 지나도 계속 되었다. 평일에는 일이 바빠 못 만났고, 주말에는 카페나 혹은 우리 집에서 시간을 보냈다. 인별도 맞팔이라 만나지 않아도 서로의 일상이 어떻게 흘러가는지 알았다. 일방적으로 나를 좋아하는 이도진, 연애나 결혼 생각은 죽어도 없는 나. 이상한 조합이지만 그와 함께 있으면 지루했던 일상이 조금은 사라지는 착각이 들었다.
