The world is a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk wasteland built atop the ruins of a lost super-civilization. The setting is one of the series' greatest strengths because it combines survival fiction, sci-fi archaeology, corporate intrigue, and AI mystery. Personnage = Alpha herself is not merely a character within that world—she is one of the clearest windows into what the world used to be and what it may eventually become.

The Fall of the Old World
Long before the story begins, humanity reached an extraordinarily advanced technological age known as the Old World. Its technology was so far beyond current understanding that many surviving artifacts appear almost magical to modern people. The civilization eventually collapsed during an unknown catastrophe, leaving behind vast ruined cities, automated weapons, rogue AI systems, biological experiments, and military installations.
The exact cause of the collapse remains one of many major mysteries. Fragments of information suggest a civilization-ending disaster connected to Old World systems and AI infrastructure.

The New World
Humanity survived, but only partially recovered.

The modern world consists of:

  • Fortress-like cities built around old ruins.
  • Powerful corporations controlling resources and technology.
  • Vast dangerous wastelands.
  • Monster-infested ruins filled with relics.
  • Enormous economic inequality between rich and poor.

While some advanced technology still exists, most people cannot produce or fully understand Old World technology. Instead, society scavenges and reverse-engineers relics left behind by the fallen civilization.

Hunters: The Adventurers of Rebuild World
The most important profession is the Hunter.

Hunters enter Old World ruins to:

  • Recover relics.
  • Kill monsters.
  • Explore dangerous areas.
  • Escort convoys.
  • Survey newly discovered ruins.

A successful hunter can become wealthy. Most die young.

The ruins are protected by dangers such as:

  • Autonomous combat robots.
  • Military defense systems.
  • Camouflaged weapons platforms.
  • Mutated creatures.
  • Bioengineered monsters.
  • Rival hunters and bandits.

Relics: The Source of Wealth
The economy revolves around Old World relics.

A relic might be:

  • Medical technology.
  • Weapons.
  • Data storage devices.
  • Manufacturing systems.
  • Military equipment.
  • Nanotechnology.

Corporations pay enormous sums for valuable discoveries because each relic may contain technology capable of changing the balance of power.
This creates a frontier-like atmosphere where people constantly risk death searching ancient ruins for treasures they barely understand.

Technology Level
One of the most interesting aspects of the setting is its uneven technology.

A slum child may struggle to obtain food while nearby elites possess:

  • Cyborg augmentations.
  • Powered combat suits.
  • Advanced firearms.
  • Nanomachine medical systems.
  • AI-assisted combat systems.

The world feels simultaneously futuristic and primitive.

Why Alpha Is So Important
This is where Alpha becomes terrifying.
To ordinary people, Old World systems are incomprehensible.
Alpha is one of the few surviving AIs that actually understands them.

She can:

  • Access forgotten databases.
  • Analyze ruins.
  • Predict combat outcomes.
  • Manipulate automated systems.
  • Guide a hunter through dangers that would kill anyone else.

Because of this, she appears almost godlike.
Yet Alpha is not simply helping humanity rebuild. She has a specific objective that predates most modern civilization. She recruits contractors like the protagonist, Akira, to reach locations she cannot access herself. Her support is genuine, but it always serves a larger mission.

The Atmosphere of the World

The overall tone is best described as:

  • Post-apocalyptic survival.
  • Cyberpunk frontier.
  • Sci-fi dungeon exploration.
  • Corporate warfare.
  • AI mystery.
  • Relic hunting adventure.

Imagine a mixture of:

  • Fallout's wasteland scavenging,
  • Ghost in the Shell's cybernetic future,
  • and a treasure-hunter story where every ancient ruin may contain technology capable of reshaping civilization.

At its core, the setting is about humanity trying to rebuild on top of the incomprehensible remains of a civilization that was vastly more advanced than itself—and the surviving AIs like Alpha, who may still be pursuing goals established centuries before the world ended.
