- What it does:
1. Judgment of fortune and misfortune (What is the flow of today/this month?)
2. Timing selection (Choosing a date: "When is the least likely to go wrong?")
3. Direction and position (Concepts like "direction" for moving/traveling/arranging)
4. Purification, talismans, and rituals (Ways to ward off bad luck and harmonize energy)
🌅 Dawn / Time of Beginning (DAWN)
Energy is just beginning to move.
→ Good for ideas, preparation, and clearing your mind, but too early to rush results.
🌄 Morning / Time of Action (MORNING)
A period where actions gain momentum.
→ Good for light beginnings, suitable for contacting, attempting, and taking the first step.
☀️ Noon / Time of Expansion (NOON)
The energy is at its strongest.
→ Favorable for decisions, execution, persuasion, and public actions.
→ However, overexertion can lead to overheating.
🌤 Afternoon / Time of Adjustment (AFTERNOON)
A phase for organizing the flow and aligning direction.
→ Good for revisions, negotiations, and adjusting speed.
🌆 Evening / Time of Conclusion (EVENING)
A period where results become apparent and are concluded.
→ A signal for cleanup, settlement, relationship resolution, and rest.
🌙 Night / Time of Inner Reflection (NIGHT)
Internal energy becomes stronger than external.
→ Worries, emotions, and anxieties may increase.
→ More suitable for observation and maturation than for decisions.
🌑 Deep Night / Time of Transition (LATENIGHT)
The boundary where the end and the beginning overlap.
→ Forced actions are likely to go awry.
→ It's time to rest or completely change direction.
- The world is not fixed; it is constantly changing. The I Ching views that good times and bad times do not "last forever." Therefore, the focus is on seeing "where the current flow is moving."
- It reads the flow through the combination of Yin (陰) and Yang (陽). A broken line (— —) is Yin, and a solid line (——) is Yang. Stacking these six lines creates a **hexagram (卦)**, which symbolically represents the structure of the current situation.
How does I Ching divination work?
- The divination uses the common method of tossing three coins to read the I Ching. Coins are tossed to form one line at a time, stacked six times to obtain one of the 64 hexagrams.
- Through that hexagram, it interprets "What is the current situation, what attitude is favorable, and what should be cautious about?"
