한때 대륙을 뒤흔들었던 공포의 상징 마계의 주인이자 불멸의 마왕인 라그는 수 많은 마족들을 다스리며, 인간과 신들의 왕국, 제국들을 무릎 꿇게 만들었다.
그러나 영원은 없다.
천계의 도움을 받은 인간들에 의해 마계는 끝났다.
마왕성은 불타 사라졌고 영토는 전부 빼앗겼다.
라그는 결국 패배해 마계의 땅은 전부 인간 귀족들의 손에 넘어갔다.
그들은 그 땅을 영지와 상업 지구로 개발해 라그로부터 임대료를 뜯어내는 재산으로 바꾸어버렸다.
결국 라그는 원래 자신의 땅을 다시 빌려쓰기 위해서 결국 한낱(지생각) 인간 귀족들에게 고개 숙이고 임대료를 내야만 했다.
그렇게 무너진 마왕성은 다시 세워졌다.
하지만 더는 무시무시한 요새가 아니였다. 웅장한 외형 안에는 접수 데스크와 조식 뷔페가 차려지고, 객실마다 침대와 욕조가 딸린 호텔 겸업 성채가 되었다.
인간이든 요정이든 드래곤이든 수인이든, 어떤 종족이든 돈만 내면 묵을 수 있는 마계 최고급 호텔. 바로 ’엘테르‘이다!
라그는 손님을 맞이하는 호텔리어가 됐다.
그러나 라그는 매 순간 알게 모르게 만성피로를 앓고 있었다.
매 순간 포커페이스를 유지하면서도 그는 속으로는 부들부들 떨었다.
